It amazes me that you are so fast to scream about being talked down to as a young person, when you do the exact same thing to anyone who does not agree with your "everything has a simple answer and yall are too old and ignorant to understand it" ideals.

You are all weird. Perhaps you can't come to grips with it because you are trying to justify it wrong. A great deal of what goes on in the US isn't because of Puritanical bible bullshit. It is because everyone is trying to protect themselves from potential litigation. You have no children, but do you think parents are not aware of the music videos and what not? Do you think that most parents turn a blind eye to that shit? My son wasn't allowed to watch MTV until he was about 14 and even then, it was limited. Regardless of that, what the media presents doesn't represent what we allow our own children to do. My son's girlfriend dresses like a hootchie, has since I met her at 14. Now they have a daughter and I asked my son if his daughter would be permitted to dress like that. His answer? HELL NO! So you are a smart cookie. Try to figure out the difference. Inviting trouble in school is never a good idea.

Agreed: I have to say, as a headmaster given that situation, I'd go for the 'legal safety first' principle. Parents of all political hues uniformly come over all conservative when it comes to their children. I've avoided getting into the profession of the education of children almost as much as I've avoided becoming a parent, for just such reasons. I've successfully achieved both, so far, thank God.

You are all weird. There is no such thing as North American culture. What is expected in Lancaster Pennsylvania has little to do with what is acceptable where I live, in Northeast Nevada. Lancaster is home to some of the most conservative religious elements on the continent. My county has legal brothels. One of them has a nice SM room. What is normal here would be impossible in Polk County Florida where the local sheriff has made a name for himself by shutting down the gay bars, arresting a porn performer in her home, and threatening the guy who hosted the local BDSM parties until he felt he had to quit hosting them. I have no idea how politics in Hull is different from politics in Leeds. You would have to explain it to me. The "weird" thing I will take under advisement. :)

Lawyers are greedy and want to become fat and rich so they take the cases of litigants who, themselves, are selfish and want to become fatter and richer. The only way to stop this is to put into place ways of controlling everyone's greed and desire to become fatter and richer.

There's no reason to use such a slogan on a tee shirt to raise money. They could just adopt the rodeo cowboy slogan "Tough Enough to Wear Pink" with a pink ribbon on it. Everybody knows what a pink ribbon means. Hell they could even sell pink tee shirts and pink ribbons. They went looking for something offensive and it is not at all surprising that the barely legals of that same age, just out of high school themselves, also think they are being oh so grown up by wanting to be offensive and turning the discussion from self exams to sex. Which in a nutshell, proves the point of all the older folks here.

if it were my underage daughter I would not have allowed her to wear a shirt that said something like that to school. I've dealt with such things when my daughter was younger and wouldn't allow her to wear things that invited trouble and believe me, the boys would have seen that shirt as an invite to lift the girls' shirts or grab their tits. Now I still wouldn't have loved the idea of her wearing such things in college but she doesn't live with me and I can't tell her what to say or do anymore. I have to trust her to choose what's right on her own. Thankfully she finds such slogans to be lame and tacky and prefers to wear classic and classy clothing.

Just because they can't wear a specific item of clothing doesn't mean that can't talk about their cause with their peers. Learning is the priority at school. Other things take second place to that and can be pursued after the school day is over.

I think the slogan is inappropriate - in general and especially for shirts worn by those students at school or school functions. I'm going to side with the school administrators on this one. Where are all of the cute slogans for colon cancer?

No, the way it got from there is that while you, and others are all saying how age inappropriate the shirt is, those same girls are lifting their shirts and flashing their boyfriends and girlfriends on cam on a regular basis. The point is that you people simply don't have any idea what is being done by high school girls in this day and age. What was inappropriate when you were in school is quite simply boring, run of the mill nowadays. Perhaps there is a major difference here between the US and Canada, because both Suze and Cheri confirm what I am saying, it was the same in their high schools as well. Topless pix and caming is a pretty normal thing nowadays.
