Perry Promises Increased Drilling and Decreased RegulationWEST MIFFLIN, Pa. — Gov. Rick Perry of Texas released a long-promised jobs and energy proposal Friday that resembles a wish list for the oil and gas industry, promising new drilling across much of the country, including in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, as well as a curtailing of environmental regulations and “dismantling” the Environmental Protection Agency.

Now who said that the Republicans care about the environment?   This seems to be a Republican idea, dismantle the EPA and screw regulations dealing with pollution.

Perry is just making political talk.

If the Texicans could drill, they would drill, and they would not need Perry to ramrod it either.

Mind if I quote this the next you try to claim youre not against affordable energy?

" reshape subsidies and tax credits for different parts of the energy industry, in what appears would be a move away from renewable energy. "

I have a big problem with that.

Oil WILL eventually run out. What then? If we don't have an infrastrusture in place at that time that is able to utilize said "renewable energy", we are truly and royally FUCKED.

Nice goin' Perry. Put your need for power ahead of the good of the country.

Utilizing all of our resources IS the good of the country. An economy has three sources for all of its wealth, its bodies, its brains and its natural resources. We're losing tghe bodies game to Asia, the brains game...well look at the OWS crowd and see how thats goin. That leaves natural resources. We could afford to ignore them when we had superiority in brains and effective bodies. We cant anymore.

jlf1961 -> RE: Perry Promises Increased Drilling and Decreased Regulation (10/15/2011 5:59:42 PM)

What the republicans like Sanity seem to ignore is the fact that at projected usage that known oil reserves will run out in about 40 years.

Sanity -> RE: Perry Promises Increased Drilling and Decreased Regulation (10/15/2011 6:02:40 PM)

Thats either ignorance or a blatant lie, as Canadas shale oil reserves are staggering.

Too bad the Obama administration is dragging its feet on the proposed pipelinethat could lower our gasoline prices and help our economy take off again

False dichotomy....but you know that, don't you?
But let's assume you dont,is this really how you see it...it is all a black and white choice ? Affordable energy or a viable eco-system ?
Any chance that might be a third choice....one not ,at current ,being put forth by your party and it's big oil sponsors ?

Well when you put it like that sanity...I mean who can possibly argue with such a compelling and convincing argument [:)]

Sanity -> RE: Perry Promises Increased Drilling and Decreased Regulation (10/15/2011 6:48:03 PM)

Any "false dichotomy" is Lucys, as she tries to claim all of her cultish doom and gloom "the end is near" crap. [:D]

Contrary to the far left deniers, affordable energy wont bring about the end of the world.

slvemike4u -> RE: Perry Promises Increased Drilling and Decreased Regulation (10/15/2011 7:02:55 PM)

That's true sanity.....but what you seem to miss is that it is not the "affordable" part that folks object to.It is the screw the Eco system there is a profit to be made so we are going to drill everywhere part that gets "us" folks upset.
In addition while we screwing up the environment and wringing every drop of fossil fuel that we can out of the planet we are ignoring the search for the solution to the issue.....to wit: renewable energy sources.
Now that has the potential to not only be affordable...it will be clean and, wait for it.....renewable [:)]
Canadian shale oil is not ,and will never be,the solution. At best it is simply putting off of the day when we run out, while the Eco system chokes just a little faster.

Sanity -> RE: Perry Promises Increased Drilling and Decreased Regulation (10/15/2011 7:11:05 PM)

We just gave half a billion to Solyandra, what else do you want

Seriously though, "we" and everyone else are researching the hell out of alternative energy, why are you spreading the lie that we arent

"We" started a huge program to make poor peoples foodstuffs into ethanol on a mass scale for example, while outlawing the recovery of fuel that we could just pump right out of the ground...

People here in the US and around the globe are getting hungrier because of increased costs of the fuel thats required to grow, process and distribute food. Food inflation is really hurting a lot of people and all leftists can think about is their Al Gore cult
