The important thing is...everyone should pay something....today...51.73% pay nothing.

That 51.73% of Americans pay nothing? Yes, this number is from last year's 'federal INCOME tax' information. I know this will seem hard for you to understand, but do try. There is a rather large percentage of that 51.73% that dont pay federal income taxes. That's because they are UNDER the age of 16 (or 14) based on state's minimal age level. Likewise, the SECOND largest group are the elderly who typically RETIRE from working (hence, their income dropping significantly down). The third largest group, are the unemployed. And why do they not pay much in federal income taxes, LookieNoNookie? Take a wild guess....

From there, its broken down into many other subgroups. Believe it not, there are even some that take a religious vow of poverty (gets close to Jesus....).

But much of that 51.73% pay OTHER federal taxes. For instance. Just because the elderly, kids that work, and unemployed dont pay much in taxes, they often TRAVEL. Mostly by car, but air travel is figured in there too. Guess what? How much of that gallon of gas you put into your car is taxed by the federal goverment? As of February 2011, it is $0.184 cents per gallon.

Actually Joether, this (my post) referenced those that are of the adult income tax paying populace...

As to the other populace that you claim (correctly) that pay "OTHER" federal and state taxes....right again.

The fact still remains that...of the population that is in a position (income earners) to pay federal taxes.....51.73% pay zero (or less).

(There's actually a percentage...approaching 29%...that not only pay zero...but actually receive a check every April.....in excess of the amounts they paid...one of them, thanks to the fact that he has 5 children....works for me).

It doesn't change the fact that LESS than half of the population (who vote) pay zero....or less than zero in federal taxes.

When you consider (that according to your above argument), everyone pays sales taxes and (most) pay SSI taxes....and that of all those folks....less than half pay federal (IRS) taxes.....

That's fucked up.
