I'm not into whips and flogging so I have very little first hand observation, but I've only seen two males get flogged and one female doing the flogging. I've seen lots of women being flogged by men, however. So I would guess that males prefer the flogging fetish and females prefer the floggee fetish.

i think that's just a matter of the heterosexual community, and who's more likely to be a Top vs. a bottom. but in the gay community, for example, you have men who like flogging, and men who like being flogged. if you went to only FDom/msub events you'd see more men who like being the floggee vs. women who like being the flogger.
so that observation only applies to a limited interpretation of BDSM activity -- the MTop/fbottom variety.

I tend to wonder if the flogging deal is just a massage or for show. It can look impressive. I enjoy a good flog, but I can take it or leave it. It does nothing to enhance my desire. Mostly I get flogged because my partner at the time enjoys doing it. It goes along the line of going with the flow.

OK, this is wierd. I can NOT flog a woman. (OK use a flogger and get thuddy and some minor red marks and ouchie but I mean I can't FLOG).

Put a man on the rack and I can flay the meat off his fuckin bones. It's totally nonsexual, just Dominant.

This is for both true fetishes, where one must have the other to be aroused. Compulsions, where one wants something in order to get a greater rush from the action. Or leanings, triggers that can intensify results. Mine is more of a leaning.

I think the only difference is that men tend to focus more on kinks and specific kinks more than women do. (For example, this is the type of thread you'd expect a man to start rather than a woman.)

It's very rare I come across a female domme who says, "I absolutely have to have XYZ." More likely they don't talk about kinks for a long time.

I haven't seen any particular pattern of women, in general, being into any kink in particular. Varies from woman to woman. And I find women, again generally, tend to be flexible. They can embrace and let go of most kinks as long as more fundamental needs are being met.

It's really the men who rush ahead focusing out and talking about kinks.

I have considered this over the years. I tend to be a somewhat of a prude most times. But this works for me because the prudishness of my nature allows me to be titalated by many things. I can think of things and somehow it takes on a sexual turn, regardless of how innocent it might be to someone else. Then I blush, then it clicks for whomever I happen to be talking to that I took it to a twisted level. Since most things can be perverted in my eyes, I have become very flexible in what I do with my partner. He suggests, I do. An idea pops up and I am not afraid to bring it up to my mate. I wonder if it is the female in me that makes going with the flow an ingrained thing for me.
In an odd way I find women are more sexual than men, even when we don't go out and fuck just any one.
I know it is weird but I think men are more restrained and perhaps that is why fetishes develop more strongly.

I find that a lot more women are into the Daddy/ little girl dynamic then men are. I think women are less about the taboo aspect though and more about the emotional aspect of the dynamic which goes with what littlewonder was speaking about with the "mindset" i believe.
