(This is going in off topic because I can't take it seriously enough to be a proper BDSM discussion.)

Yo. People. I've been here a while. Why didn't any of you tell me there was an online BDSM university?

I could've been studying for qualifications all this time! I didn't even realise I needed qualifications!

From their bumf for prospective students:

And the best bit? For each year you study there, they reward you with leather. And if you study for five? You're gifted with a cover, 'thus showing the community [you] have truly EARNED [your] position and title.' Like a REAL leather person. (Only not, obviously.)

some of those topics would be fun demos, but definitely better in person.
i'd like to learn about bootblacking, but no one around here does it. =p

it's an "interesting" idea, but i can see someone saying "oh i took 5 classes on whips" or "i graduated rope suspension classes" without ever having a whip or rope in his/her hand.

The site is fascinating. Some of it sounds decent, and some of it sounds ridiculous, like the pics of half-clad 23 year old women everywhere.

The Class list is basically a listing of kinks, which presumably will have classes built up around them. The faculty list consists of one Dom, who does have good credentials.

Make sure you got the things necessary for getting the young ladies...fake cast, crutches, charming smile, devious mind...

Therefore there needs to be a way to reach the masses and provide them with education that is legitimate. Sites like Alt, CollarMe, Bondage.com and Fetlife, all have great places in the community. But, there is still a great deal of conjecture and confusion that comes with every thread. How many times have you seen a thread where some armchair pundit has some off the wall comment about how safewords are stupid, or something equally as crazy. For every one of these there are 50 people that see that and just take it at face value. Additionally, we have the horror stories and the damage that these people bring to the overall community.
