edited to add: I'm not sure Van Gogh would have been considered a polymath. Brilliant artist, yes.... renaissance man? hardly. he had a complete lack of social graces.

Awww hell, I had to look up the word too. I know a lot of bits and pieces of strange trivia, I read a lot, but I sure wouldn't qualify myself as a polymath. And btw? I hated math in h/s, didn't start to really "get" it until I was in the working world and there were actual figures and dollars for me to work with. Then it made plenty of sense.

i love Van Gogh -- it's also now more accepted that he didn't cut his own ear off in a fit of passion, but that it was cut off by accident by his friend, Paul Gaugin. he said that he did it, again, to avoid blaming his friend. =p

I suppose that with any group of people you'll find the good and the bad. I've come across some problems in my short time here, but also have spoken with some very insightful and intelligent men. One other note in my observance so far is that most of those types are also artistic in some way. Either in writing, or other arts and forms of expression. Thinking about it, it makes perfect sense to me. BDSM imo does indeed require some creativity.
