ORIGINAL: rulemylife I very much support the OWS movement but it is people like this guy who spout off crazy nonsense that are not helping. Ironically, I didn't really hear anything that was "crazy nonsense"...his point is the media, government and corporations collude to form a media-industrial complex, wherein corporations co-opt the government and use the media, also corporate-owned in America, as a tool to influence public opinion in a corporate-friendly direction while at the same time influencing government to enact corporate-friendly policy. To illustrate the existence of this media-industiral complex, he likened it to a three-card monte game. In which, corporations and rich plutocrats are the dealers, and the media acts as the ringer (or shills, if you prefer) to slander and discredit anyone who points out the game itself is rigged, and to give an illusion of fairness and credibiility to the dealer. In this metaphor, government and its legal ability to use coercive force is the muscle, that strongarms people who call out the game being rigged despite the ringers' interference. He closes with a warning to the movement, to not allow the corporations or the media to co-opt the movement -- to go with the three-card monte metaphor, to buy off the mark or bring them in as a shill themselves.
