Wow,you really are slow aren't you.....there is a lot more going on than people" standing in a park in NYC"... One would have thought your own overtime would have given you a clue.
Not planning to be a detective anytime soon are you ?

AGAIN for the moron's who can't answer a simple question... Just how is standing in a park, in ANY city going to convince Washington politicians to stop taking bribes from lobbyist's?

This last bout of bickering was caused by a question. It has not been answered. How are people in the streets all over the country going to influence anything ? I kinda like that "We Are Wallstreet" thing but it is a bunch of shit. Nobody bitched when their IRA doubled every three years but the question still remains - where went that money ? I know and you know.

Now it boils down a bit. The banks lobby, the government accepts their "gratuity". Laws get changed and those gratuities were a good investment. Now it is to the point where if you are not one of theirs you will not even get on the ballot. And now with so much money and money being so important in the game, we have no chance.

This OWS is all a waste of time unless it is a pretext for more to come. Breaking this government militarily would be a big job, if we had 300,000,000 people on our side fully two thirds will die. Even if our own military refuses to fire on the People, the government will bring in help from overseas. That is the true reason for international alliances.

However this can become a prelude for a real national action, one that I have proposed. Oh they will fight it with their legioslation no doubt but they won't be able to do it. Starve the beast.

All it takes is to survive. Survive now, before it becomes your last resort. Stop all discretionary spending. ALL. No gifts for birthdays or Christmas, hardly any Christians around anymore anyway. Let Black Friday take on a WHOLE new meaning. Avoid buying anyting new like the fucking plague. No new TV, get one for fifteen bucks at a thrift store. NO NOT FUEL THE ECONOMY.

Don't you understand ? YOU are the food for the beast, and you feed it like this mountain made of a machine on that Star Trek episode. Stop feeding it, it will die. It is going to happen anyway because soon nobody will be able to afford much luxury at all. Beat the to the punch. The time is now. We will not buy new cars, guitars, TVs, RVs, boats, moats, NOTHING. Get it all off of craigslist or whatever. Do not give "them" a fucking dime.

They live on money, figure it out.

T^T

Its a matter of stradling a fence, the post shoved firmly up his ass, and refusing to commit to anything while judging those who have climbed down and committed to something. I have far more respect for someone like that than I do robbie boy here.

And I have asked him more than once what the hell he would do when his pension gets dropped and his retirement benefits are gone.

He refuses to answer.

Pension? I'll be 44 this week, and I've been a cop for 5 years, what pension?

Oh, no... let's get something CRYSTAL CLEAR ... I am aware you're unable to address me directly. But I was not talking at all about you engaging me. I was talking about your behavior towards OTHERS and the context I brought it up makes that VERY CLEAR.

There has long been a strong undercurrect of dissent in both Canada and the US along the lines of what OWS has been saying, and it has has been across the political spectrum.

It has only been lately that the ordinary people on either side of the border are really hearing what these "prophets" have to say.

The Federal Reserve and its cozy little banking clique was under fire 20 years ago (and more) by everyone from the socialists to the libertarians. Corporate Canada and their thieving has been denounced by everyone from the native bands, the environmentalists, the left wing, to the cowboys in Alberta, and the people in the Maratimes. Eisenhower named the military-industrialist complex as trouble, as surely as the radical left and the counterculture of the 1960's did.

OWS is merely bringing people under one big tent, while showing the people, that the corporations  and things all these factions have been complaining of are interrelated.

And none of it is new, it is just that now the machinations of this corporate crew have reached the point where it affects virtually everyone who is not profiting by being part of the problem.

OWS will not make this massive syndicate and organized thieving stop by itself, but functions as an educational tool and a rally point for those who will try to do such things.

The fact that he didnt want to be an elected politician and run for office
I don't know there tj, running for parliament at 29 doesn't sound too reluctant to me. Do you have anything to back up your wallflower theory? I've done some searching and I can't find a single reference to him being at all reluctant to run or having to be persuaded to do so.

Are you sure you're not indulging in a little creative mythologizing?

I know you would like to think that but nope, i am not indulging in the least. When PM Harper first became leader of the Conservatives i read a couple of biographies about him and to know that you would have had to have read them too. I would also guess some of the same info on his background would have been in the Calgary newspapers too.

I did find a poster on another forum that has said the very same things I have said-
"batb says:

Anon1152, original moniker, eh?

Prime Minister Stephen Harper grew up solidly middle class, and did not become a lawyer like most of our “professional” politicians.

In fact, I remember his being encouraged, back in the ’90s, to run for office when he was in the private sector and he unequivocally refused.
Prime Minister Harper became a reluctant politician. He seemed the best man for the (Conservative) job and, IMO, it was a sacrifice for him to give up his and his family’s privacy to become a public figure.

He seems, however, to have grown into the job of Prime Minister and he’s doing a superb job.

Nice try at a put down of our PM, what’s your name? oh yeah, Anon1152.

Read Calgary Junkie’s post and you’ll perhaps understand the difference between Prime Minister Harper and “the elite.”

And, BTW, being trained as an economist with a Master’s degree, working for Imperial Oil, and being well paid does NOT make PMSH part of the “elite.” He earned his degree and his living, and he worked hard to achieve it."

http://www.bluelikeyou.com/2010/04/17/stephen-harper-of-the-regular-canadians-class/

eta- i only searched for a few minutes cuz i dont have all day to sit on the boards today... I am sure there are more references and then of course, one could take the extreme measure and read biographies about him like I did..

Trying to make Harper as "Canadian common folk" is like trying to paint the black WASP  as some ordinary African American who through hard work and perseverance clawed his way out of some Chicago ghetto, or Bush the Younger as some cowboy from Texas, who rose to the top through his abilities..

Not that the above named worthies don't bask in these misconceptions.

That was not the point i was trying to make. But imo he is certainly more middle class than Iggy the Traitor or any of the other previous lawyer Liberal polticians...

Perhaps. But the Bush and Obama comparison is far more apt then you think, Lord Bush and clan sent well funded and trained Bush offspring off from the New England area where they had been to pretend to be locals in places like Florida and Texas deliberately,

The Harvard trained and steel magnolia raised Black WASP was "discovered"  in Chicago in a similar manner and propelled to the top by the corporate democrats in the US.

Ontario corporate Tories needed to do a similar thing and found a Ontario Harper to fulfil a similar role in Alberta. For the Harper family  have been in there swinging for the Tory since the 1770s when they packed up their servants and left Yorkshire, in both the Maritimes, and in Ontario.

In short the Canadian version of a Yankee family (Like say the cousins Bush or Obama's "white meat")  in all respects. Who seem to disproportionately  fill the  ranks of many of the upper corporate positions, financial institution "owners" and regulators, and professional politicians and governmental operatives on both sides of the border.

Ignoramus and the other center right "Liberal" politicians are merely the other face of the same class of these mandarins, much as at the corporate level there is little to distinguish Bush and Obama ( or their lesser peers on either side of the aisle on either side of the border) whose role appears to be to keep the masses out of trouble while business as usual rolls on.

Sorry guys, that sort of thinking strikes me as a lose/lose proposition....you are basically removing your piece from the chessboard
you dumb fuck, you don't have a piece on the chessboard. voting is just a fucking song and dance, its just smoke and mirrors baby, all just smoke and mirrors. your choice is a hobson's choice, what are you offered? corporate shill #1 or corporate shill#2. all you can influence is what particular companies' will dictate the agenda for the next few years. not a fucking one of them works for you or gives a flying fuck about you.

you notice that mr. change-we-can-believe-in hasn't really done a fuck of a lot different from the previous guys. well that's because he works for the same fucking people, he's a fucking puppet, nothing more. just look at the fucking health care sham, surprisingly enough it was exactly what the fucking insurance and pharma industries wanted, and not what anybody else wanted. why the fuck do you think that was?

if you think you can make a difference by voting then you're dumber than a fucking stump.

Thats a bit of a copout. We get shill #1 and #2 cause half the population sits on their ass and bitches rather than vote. And of those that do vote very few get involved with finding candidates and seeing to it that they run. If you aren't even will get off your ass ...then there really isn't much point in bitching

Ontario is very class oriented. My ex grew up in Ontario and he would tell me how where you lived depended on what type of job your father did.

I know Harper didnt grow up poor, he was probably about in the same class as my ex. But I personally dont care so much about his family's heritage, privileged or othewise. To me, its not where he is from but what he makes of himself that matters, imo. I know he spent a lot of years in Alberta and he worked hard and reluctantly became a politican, even tho imo he probably would have been just as happy only working in the private sector. Not earning big bucks but doing ok (especially since Alberta doesnt tax people to death). Also, imo, he is one of the few in politics that actually cares about Canada and all Canadians. Unfortunately, no politican can please everyone so some people wont agree with my opinions of him.. C'est la vie.

My opinion of him is just that, just my opinion... I dont vote so how long he stays in power and politics depends on voting Canadians, not me.

Wrong, as usual... It's you who's delusional in thinking setting up a tent city in protest will change anything, especially since you keep voting the same jokers into office election after election.
