I'm loving that the main character is a Brit, and he does do a very convincing American accent.

I was shaking my head in disbelief. One of the leads in 'Teachers' - a Brit comedy in which he plays a useless, self-obsessed buffoon - to a sheriff's deputy in a US series? It's weirder than Hugh Laurie's jump from Blackadder to House. I wonder if he, like Laurie, insists on speaking in his American accent at all times, just to keep the practice up . . . .

My 7 yr old lad thought the 1st series was very funny.
Should I be concerned?

Only if he doesn't know the difference between fantasy and reality (in my most humble and biological child free opinion). When the zombies really come the survivors will have keenly honed senses of slapstick comedy and puppetry. Laughing in the face of MegaDeath is a survival trait, congratulations he might not go crazy when the world falls apart.

I found interest in watching the kid Karl's (think that is his name) progression in the novel, acting like he still fears "girl germs"(cooties) but walking around with his holster like "lil Joe" from Bonanza. I hope he doesn't have to, but I doubt he will pause to use it on the living to defend himself and his.

After reading this thread I started watching the series.  I really liked it.  Thanks for the heads up!  In fact, instead of watching Dexter at 9, I'll be watching The Walking Dead.  No worries, Dexter comes on again at 11

ETA:  I watched all of the first season on Netflix, and I'm all caught up on season 2 On Demand!

I'll second those thanks. I had no idea it was so good. Watched all of both series to date in the last week! The characters are great. So realistic. Hell, even the women are allowed to look grimy and tired . . . .

When I saw all those "walkers" on the streets of Atlanta I had a serious oh shit! moment. Too tired tonight but I'll continue tomorrow

I watch it.  One of the only shows I've been watching religiously in that I watch when it airs, usually don't DVR The Walking Dead.  Last night, however, I had to DVR it as shortly after getting home from helping my occupy group return to the gazebo where we had set up, and been evicted from for a day (willingly, I might add) I had to go the hospital.  My grand daughter was born several hours later, at 3:51 am Monday morning by Cesarian.

I thought they were a little impolite to that delightfully suave and urbane fellow in the well, though.

A little impolite??  What a way to put it!!

BTW, thanks Lilly.  The grand daughter is adorable.  I'll have to win a lottery or something so I can spoil her rotten.  LOL

That was a great line, Endivius. While they were going through those insane contortions I said to my pretty one : " Why don't they either seal the damn well, or shoot him and seal the well, or  drop a noose down there and around his neck - it might take a while but what's the hurry - and have one of the horses pull him out? Then shoot him and seal the well". Or I said something like that.I can't claim to have  anticipated the walker bveing pulled in two, though........
