I get that they had a story line purpose, but Rick knew them.  When they walked into the bar, Rick said something to the effect of "omg, you're alive!"  (I was hoping it was the man and his son that saved Rick's life when he first woke up from the coma.)  I had the impression that they were from a previous episode or season.  I was wracking my brain trying to remember.

I think Shane was either lobbying for support during the hand washing scene, or he truly is narcissistic.  Her daughter's walking corpse is brutally gunned down in front of her, and all he can say is "I didn't know...me me me..."

The two not-so strangers at the bar probably did more to show Herschel he needs Rick's group as much (if not more) than they need him.  He has no guns and no way to protect his family and property from darker elements if they want to come take it away from him.

the "omg your alive" was said by one of the two men when they entered the bar, they were referencing the fact that the people inside were not zombies, and it shocked them.

From shane's perspective, I believe when he killed otis, his reasoning was that otis was a stranger, and the supplies they had been sent to get were neccessary to save the boy he had come to consider his own. When he opened the barn to kill the walkers, it was more about continuing what is in his mind, a justified threat, a way of protecting the people in his group. I believe that while shane's charachter was rather calous in killing otis, the means to an end was justified in his mind. When he was consoling rita I think it was about feeling guilty that someone he truely accepted as a part of his family or group was felled as a result of his recklessness. And now that he has to live with that, he feels not only responsible but also guilty. It will be interesting to see how he copes with that guilt and the guilt of killing otis. It's clear when he cut his hair in the bathroom, he does feel guilt about leaving otis to die.

Thank you.  I was in the other room when that scene took place and heard the remark thinking Rick made it.  Glad I didn't completely forget a couple of characters from a previous episode/season!

I don't know.  He strikes me as manipulative (just as Dale is being manipulative in his own way), and someone who is accustomed to winning women over.  There was an underlying current of seduction, in his behavior.  I'm not sure if that is just second nature to him, or if he's more consciously aware of it, but if there is dissension in the camp, having the mother sympathetic to his actions could tilt the balance of favor in his direction slightly (maybe!)  Dale, while using different tactics also appears to be doing his own lobbying.  I think Shane has to know that there's a good chance he might get kicked off the farm, and knowing that Rick's wife is pregnant and that she won't want to be leaving the only doctor around - he's not going to want to go peacefully or alone.  If he has to leave, I'm sure he's going to want people who agree and support him going with him.  He's also going to need someone to do his laundry.  It isn't as if Andrea is going to do it any more now that she's all about protecting the camp and empowering herself

Yeah, but Andrea's also in Shane's camp, though. She's feeling like she's in control, but she also seems to generally agree with Shane's decisions. Maybe because they're kinda similar.

The handwashing moment was a little odd -- it left you going "wait, what?" hahaha
That extra little caress of her finger -- but it could've just been a way for him to try to be gentle. He's always punching or shooting or yelling or something, and I think he was trying to show that he isn't a monster. He probably does want to win her over, I'm sure -- he's kinda angling to become leader again, and the more people he has on his side the better -- but I think that motivations can overlap, and while he certainly wants to form alliances, he also may have just been trying to show that he's really not so bad.

It still throws me every time Rick speaks.  You'll see why. This is a clip with Andrew Lincoln in his earlier series, 'Teachers'.

I did think it was great that they mentioned Kansas and Nebraska as places to go. Haha :p
Low pop., lots of guns. That's about it. :p

I was watching this episode back to see if Dave ever knew Herschel's name, but he did.
Tony was definitely the one who gave their intentions away - crass and disrespectful, and always making suspiicious faces. And of course blowing up about shooting them in the head and taking the farm.

Tony posed the most obvious threat, but Dave hd that kinda serpent's tongue vibe - trying to lull them into a false sense of security, but there's "something" underhanded underneath.

Having read all the graphic novels (my husband has Amazon notify him when each new one comes out, and I get it immediately-- soo sooo spoiled, aren't I?), I'm predisposed to dislike Shane. He was a tool in the novels as well. If you haven't read them, please do, they're nothing at all like the tv show, they seem to have completely parted ways between the two. You won't get spoilers at all, except for maybe the places they go, like Atlanta and Hershel's farm. I won't tell you where else they end up :)

I was surprised that Dale bought it the way he did. He seemed to be more capable in season 1 than he was in this last episode.

They've gotten relaxed on the farm. Let their guard down, for the most part. When that part came on, I looked at my husband and asked, "Would you be walking around in the dark when there's zombies?" We just knew he was going to bite it.

I can't get into season two. I don't like any of the characters. When I start rooting for the zombies, it can't be a happy thing.

I remember him from Loveactually. It took me a bit to make the connection.

With all that has gone on - I think the scariest part is that they are becoming zombies without direct zombie to person contact. Is it now airborne? Is the food and water supply contaminated? Are they all slightly infected now? Will anyone who dies become a zombie, regardless of how it happens? Which leads to - will they all become zombies at some point regardless of death?

I think so. If you watched last night's episode, as well as the episode where they were going to leave Randall, it pretty much indicates that is the case.

Some people on the Walking Dead site have said that Lori needs to watch her son more and while I agree, if you watched the Talking Dead episode on Sunday, there is something even odder going on. The woman who plays Maggie was on Talking Dead and she said there is literally a baby sitting schedule in the house but the Carl erased it and nobody has noticed yet. That nobody has noticed means that nobody has been checking it and nobody would be fulfilling their part of the duties anyway.
