What is ironic is you and tazzy have been portraying them as criminals and corrupt when in fact by her own figures they are more law abiding then the occupiers. You both at times come off looking hypocritical... You say… well they have the trust of the citizenry and should for some reason be held to a higher standard... That is crap… they are humans just like you and her only more law abiding on average then those criticizing them.

Uh, no. 1% of the Cops are dirty.

4.5% of the arrests, summons and citations occur per 100,000 people. That does not specify how many people are arrested.

Tazzy you can say this until you are blue in the face...but link where it says this on the FBI crime statistic site ...You ask me to show my links, I do if asked, now it am politely asking you…It may be there but I could not find it.

Definition
The FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program counts one arrest for each separate instance in which a person is arrested, cited, or summoned for an offense. The UCR Program collects arrest data on 29 offenses, as described in Offense Definitions. Because a person may be arrested multiple times during a year, the UCR arrest figures do not reflect the number of individuals who have been arrested. Rather, the arrest data show the number of times that persons are arrested, as reported by law enforcement agencies to the UCR Program.

Or do you now need two sites?

How many more do you need?

Now was that so damn hard? Why did you just not post the link the first time I asked...or did I miss it.

Now we can consider the below... Unless you can find a percent of convictions in the US somewhere else.

quote:

"Lets say you are right, if you can show me, then it becomes how many of the arrests were multiple in the years and how many single.

Consider this… 3.1% of adult Americans are incarcerated or on parole. This figure has been slowly rising over the last decade. This would show that it is at least stable if not rising. To maintain this figure over time a 3.1% or higher arrest and conviction rate could be needed or the rate would decrease.

If you are correct I am sure some people are arrested more than once in a year but I would guess the vast majority are arrested once and convicted… So I am willing to admit that 3.1% could be closer to the truth.

Unless of course the figures listed as arrest were also convictions… then if would be less likely that one person would be arrested and convicted multiple times in one year.

Either way the rate is higher for the general population then for police officers.

Dont blame me because you cant read a post.

I addressed those already.

How many are cops? They have to be taken out of the total.

Arrests rates are just that. 1 person can be arrested, and convicted, or multiple charges... each charge is counted separately.

quote:

Unless of course the figures listed as arrest were also convictions… then if would be less likely that one person would be arrested and convicted multiple times in one year.

16 cops and 5 civilians were arrested with over 100 charges between them... and you dont believe people are arrested and convicted for multiple charges?

Tazzy you just don't read with comprehension...if is hard to have a discussion with you...You are so anxious to respond you start typing before you understand what someone is saying... or you just ignore parts you are afraid to answer...I'm not sure which..

All along I was asking you... just as you asked me... for a link to your source...Over and over I said you could be right... yet you say
quote:

" and you dont believe people are arrested and convicted for multiple charges?

Then I say if you are right consider this or that and you ignore it.

Read then read again…maybe then we can have a meaningful conversation and exchange of Ideas… I’m tired of arguing for 10 posts just to get you to understand plain language.

Post#48 contains the link you kept demanding. Dont blame me because you couldnt find it 15 posts earlier when it was first given to you. and you blame MY reading comprehension?

I asked a simple questions. If what YOU say is true, how many of that 3.1% who are sitting in prison or otherwise under judicial control are cops?

How many are not even US citizens. Gitmo is included in that count since it also includes the federal prisoners as well. When you can give me the numbers of Cops in prison, and the numbers of those who are politically held, then get back to me.

Otherwise, you are merely tossing numbers around you dont understand to try and make a point you know you cannot possibly make.

In other words.. even your 3.1 % of the population is in error.

7,073,982 = your 3.1% x 228.182,000 the number of adults in the US as of 2008. Meaning 7 million people, according to you, went to prison in 2008...

quote:

The FBI estimated that 14,005,615 arrests occurred in 2008 for all offenses (except traffic violations). Of these arrests, 594,911 were for violent crimes and 1,687,345 were for property crimes.

your own source listed ...

Estimated number of adults under correctional supervision and annual percent change in correctional population, 1980-2009

2008 shows just a little over 7 million that year under that supervision. IF your numbers are right.. and 3.1% of the population are added, then where did the people from 2007 go? I mean, they were under correctional supervison the year before... and over 7 million of them. Did they all get released and go home to commit another crime and go back to being under correctional supervision?

Do you see how preposterous your numbers are?

2007, over 7 million under some sort of supervision total.
2008, over 7 million under some sort of supervision total.

You dont have to go far to check.

Its right there, the picture on the first page.

Tazzy I apologize...I did miss your link.

The people there are criminals and they equal a certain percent of the adult population at any one time.

I am not saying 3.1 go in every year but that they represent a percentage of the general population. The fact that this number is going up in every year but one means it is not an abortion. Otherwise as people leave supervision others are being added at a rate that is increasing in all years but one.

Butch

Yes, typically by 2% or less... going down last year. You must also take into consideration that as people leave, recidivism rates are even higher.

The 272,111 offenders discharged in 1994 had accumulated 4.1 million arrest charges before their most recent imprisonment and another 744,000 charges within 3 years of release.

Are there "new" criminals every year? Yes... and returning acts as well. My contention is, based upon the above, there are more returning than are actually new to the scene.
