I'm new to bdsm, new to this site. I've been reading a lot on the message boards, but this is my first post. I'm very curious about the issue of whether pubic hair on women is desirable or not. I have the impression that in this lifestyle female pubic hair is frowned upon, or at least minimized, to a much greater extent than in the vanilla world. Is this merely fashion, or is there some more fundamental reason for the preference? Just wondering.

Love all these great smileys!!!

A little Hitler moustache works for me.

LillyBoPeep -> RE: Just curious (11/6/2011 7:48:00 AM)

at the events i've gone to, there have been shaved women and natural women -- nobody ran away in disgust. =p

it's a personal preference thing... if you don't want to shave, find a guy who likes you as you are. if you don't care, or prefer to shave, find someone who prefers that.

some people say "women shouldn't have hair!" well -- women are mammals. =p

some people prefer it for things like fire and wax play, where fire + hair = ewwwwww, and wax + hair = oooww!

but there isn't some huge "rule" stating that women MUST be hairless in order to go to an event or find a relationship or participate in any way. figure out what suits you, and go with that.

personally, i prefer to be shaved, but my skin is ridiculously sensitive and flips the fuck ooooutt if i shave too often. so someone who liked me would have to understand that that's part of the reality of "me."

I agree with you that vanillas are less prone to shave pussies.  I don't think of it as more than a fashion statement.  I actually prefer some hair but I feel sometimes I'm swimming against the tide.

I resent that, how judgmental!

To the OP, it very much depends, there is a wide variety from hairy to hairless and everything in between. There is no one true way.

yeah, I saw a Cosmo article about shaving the nether parts. It was considered daring and cool.

Thanks for all your quick replies! I was asking because so far everyone I've met (granted, not a large number) have preferred the hair shaved. I don't have a preference at this time, assuming the itching will stop eventually. [sm=whoa.gif]

Oh crap YEAH the itching! That is exactly why I stopped shaving. If my future dom wants me shaved, he can do it for me, personally I can't be bothered and it's hard to reach the whole damn thing.

What a wonderful compromise!

I've tried the completely bare look and it squicks me so go with the landing strip...which ATM is more of a mohawk.

M - trim please?

LOL "what a lazy bitch" is closer in my case. That's what it boils down to. If he wants me shaved he can do it himself because I'm not going to. Try just braiding it if you can't be bothered with the maintenance.

what, you don't like braids?

tj444 -> RE: Just curious (11/6/2011 9:49:46 AM)

maybe for some its fashion but i was shaving most then all well before it became fashionable. I am not all that keen on landing strips. It is my preference to be totally shaven for my own reasons. I just love,.. love.. love the sooooo soft slinky smooth feel. When she is freshly shaven she feels so good that i like to stroke and pet the smoothness...

What i dont like is the stubble and growing back and daily shaving.. I have had laser hair removal treatments but stopped midway, i want to get that finished at some point..

I have never had a guy shave me, i know some would enjoy that but i dunno if i trust a guy holding a razor with my precious..

Yeah, the stubble is also driving me crazy. I suppose if I can trust a guy to tie me up and have his way with me, I should be able to trust him with a razor between my legs?

I've been looking into waxing. Any opinions on that? It seems from my reading that you have to wait until the hair is a certain length to wax, so does that mean I would have significant periods of hairiness between waxings?

fragilepieces -> RE: Just curious (11/6/2011 10:24:29 AM)

Almost every woman I know is vanilla and they all shave.   I think it's a sign of the times---read Cosmo, there is seems almost a crime NOT to shave.    Me I just trim.

I have never waxed so i cant comment on that... If i am going to go thru pain, i would just rather lazer it all off instead..

Yes, it seems funny that i would feel that way about a guy holding a razor, just i know how easy it is to nick myself with one. Its not that i wouldnt give it a try but i would be holding my breath the first few times he did that...

Kaliko -> RE: Just curious (11/6/2011 10:28:30 AM)

Someone asked me recently if I shaved. My response was that I can barely find time to water my plants, how in the world would I keep that up?

FYI it hurts like a motherfucker and it's messy but the results last longer. I figure men tend to shave a lot so likely know what they're doing. Could be wrong though.

Considering the damage I've done to myself, I figure I can't go wrong having someone who can actually see the area do the shaving. [:)]

oneluckysub -> RE: Just curious (11/6/2011 11:28:17 AM)

I have shaved for years. Ingrowns hairs, itchiness and stubble between shaving drove me nuts. I would have to shave every 3 days but would have stubble after 1.5 days. I shaved when I was vanilla and continued when I discovered D/s relationships. Most vanilla men I dated preferred bare but would have taken full out bush if I did not want to do the maintenance.

I waxed for years also but I still was getting the ingrown hairs and stubble between waxings. I like getting waxed since it would remain bare for longer but after 1.5 - 2 weeks I would have to start shaving again. $60 plus tip every 5-6 weeks was getting expensive. The pain is not that bad. its like ripping a bandaid off which only hurts for a second. I quit doing waxing because you had to have a little but more than stubble. Since I prefer to be bare, waiting 6 days of no shaving to get waxed and explaining to my SO why I was not bare, got to be a drag.

I have been getting laser hair removal for about 6 months and love it. Treatments are every 6-8 weeks. I shave between treatments at around week 4. The ingrown hairs have lessened and the skin is significantly improved since. I dont regret the laser hair removal one bit. I got a groupon type deal for 8 treatments for $150 bucks per treatment area (Brazilian was 2 treatment areas) so now I am getting my nether parts done, lower legs, and under arms. Best $600 plus tip I have spent on my body ever.
