Hmm, have to look into that and start saving up my pennies.

BurntKitty -> RE: Just curious (11/6/2011 12:27:40 PM)

I started shaving it all off in the early 80s. I've never like pubic hair. I'm not a fan of hacking up a hairball either, so my preference is for my partner to be hairless as well.

Once I discovered the joys of pain... I switched to the Optima epilator, by Emjoi. Sweet feeling of ripping out the hair by it's roots. Not messy like waxing, and not as costly as laser. Another plus is the regrowth is not shaggy and thick, no itching and little to no ingrown hairs. I also use my tweezers out of boredom to pluck any strays. After 30+ years of removal, any regrowth is sparse at best.

LillyBoPeep -> RE: Just curious (11/6/2011 12:54:54 PM)

i dunno what you look like laborboleta, but if your skin is dark, electrolysis and laser treatments may not work well, or could cause pigmentation problems.

HannahLynn,

Wondered if you would weigh in with your inimitable style. Pleased to meet you.
Best impression of a cat coughing up a hairball I've ever seen![sm=applause.gif]

Pain is not a deterent <grins> How easy is it to maneuver?

LillyBoPeep,

Cute nickname. I'm pretty fair-skinned, so that shouldn't be an issue. Thanks so much for your input.

myotherself -> RE: Just curious (11/6/2011 1:17:41 PM)

I epilate too. Have done so for the last 10 years or so. I used to shave, but got terrible irritation and bumps and infections and all sorts of nasties. Now I get the occasional ingrown, which can be removed pretty easily.

It's pretty easy to epilate yourself, although it's not as quick to do as shaving. I just like knowing that regrowth takes days instead of hours, and any regrowth is soft and fine and not harsh and stubbly,

BurntKitty (I really like your nickname!)

Wish I had started this earlier. I don't think I have 30 more years in me to be doing this.

Are you the same BurntKitty that's on Fetlife?

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Just curious (11/6/2011 1:21:27 PM)

I was asking a friend when shaving became the fashion, it certainly didn't used to be! I just don't like a lot of hair, I feel cleaner without it. I was never hairy to start with, though. If I had serious 70's porn star bush, I might keep it, or have it shaved into cunning shapes!

i really want to try an epilator. though maybe i should try tweezing a small area and see if i can deal with it. hahaha =p

joybaby -> RE: Just curious (11/6/2011 1:28:33 PM)

Burntkitty, which optima epilator do you use, specifically? I'd like to get one, but when i looked it up, there are about 5-6 different models to choose from.

Yuppers, that me. And the one & only from Bondage.com.

(Re: name- never sunbathe nude after using Nair.)

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Just curious (11/6/2011 1:35:47 PM)

I use my epilady on my legs,a nd it is LOVE. Most of the follicles on my legs are dead. I haven't used it on the pubic hair, it's so hard to get the skin taut. Might try tonight...

Oh no! Ouch!

I used Nair until I developed a severe allergic reaction, rash, fever, etc, etc. Never use it while also taking a sulfa drug; there is sulfur in both and it's just too much.

BTW, I looked up your cat quotes. Lots of new ones I don't have in my collection. Thanks!

I use this one. I think I got it a few years ago on either Ebay or Drugstore.com.

FR

hmmmm may have to rethink this. Epilators sound interesting, smoothness and ouchiness all in one.

leonine -> RE: Just curious (11/6/2011 1:58:08 PM)

A lot of Dom(me)s make a big thing about shaving because it's another way to control a sub's body.  Doing it to your sub is an intensely intimate way to remake her to suit yourself: making her do it to suit you is another way for her to show obedience.

I'm new to bdsm, new to this site. I've been reading a lot on the message boards, but this is my first post. I'm very curious about the issue of whether pubic hair on women is desirable or not. I have the impression that in this lifestyle female pubic hair is frowned upon, or at least minimized, to a much greater extent than in the vanilla world. Is this merely fashion, or is there some more fundamental reason for the preference? Just wondering.

Love all these great smileys!!!

I've found it, just like in the rest of the world, to be very much a per-person preference and no particular leaning there for folks in the scene. The general fashion nowadays, at least in the US, is for some sort of grooming there (generally, less hair is more desired) but it's not more in the kink community and plenty of females have pubic hair and plenty of other males and females like it.

In short, wear your hair however you like it.
