No,that is not nearly "fitting" enough.Yes Sandusky is the epicenter of this tragic story, but far too many turned a blind eye to what was going on.Far too many buried their heads in the sand while children were being abused....far too many "dropped the ball" so as to protect Penn State football,Joe Pa and the cash cow that is big time college football.
Sandusky has ( if this is all true) a special place in hell reserved for him.....but he doesn't go there alone.

Joe Pa and Spanier have been fired.

Yep. It's sad, but at the same time, the right decision.

From what I am hearing, he was among one of the first to be notified, he passed that info on to the two who stepped down... and did nothing more.

Can you imagine...walking in the door every day with that knowledge for the last 8 years and working with that child abuser? Sad but so Paterno put his career above those children...He deserves the same punishment as the abuser in my opinion.

I find it odd that the graduate student who actually witnessed the incident seems to be off everyone's radar. If there is enough jail time to go around he certainly is a candidate for some of it.

Simple solution to Sandusky and the lot of them?

1. Line them up
2. Castrate the b***ards

Why? He did what he was supposed to. It was the others who chose to do nothing.

Im of the same mind, Fire. Sorry... he was witnessing a felony... he witnessed the abuse of a child... and did nothing to protect that child.

Joe Paterno was told he was fired by a phone call. He apparently asked why it couldn't wait until after the season was over. He still doesn't get it..

I thought it stopped at the school. Unfortunately, it did not. Seems a DA was informed in 1998, but nothing came of the investigation

Wow.  Paterno's getting fired makes more waves than the President getting fired.  That's just wrong.

Prior to his firing, Paterno issued a statement saying he was "absolutely devastated by the developments" involving the former assistant football coach and two university officials.  "I grieve for the children and their families, and I pray for their comfort and relief," Paterno said. "With the benefit of hindsight, I wish I had done more."
And that's as close to an apology that the bastard will give.

Bullshit.

If I saw what he allegedly saw I would not turn around and run, go call daddy. I would blast into that room and find something extremely heavy and beat the motherfucker senseless, get that kid where he felt as safe as possible and THEN call 911.

I would not quietly walk away and call daddy to ask......"what should I do?".

That is just too fucked up for words.

he was 28 at the time. Mc Queary is the red head seen on the side lines during the games. He played football there, went to school there, and is obviously a big man. He stated he saw what he saw... but did nothing to stop it. Thats a felony.

Here is what is pissing me off with the whole deal. Paterno was seen as a Saint and a hero. One phone call to any number of police or political offices would have ensured investigations...and nothing was done.

The indictment...

Excuse me? He witnessed the incident first hand and did not attempt to stop it and did not call the police immediately. On top of that, he waited until the next day to tell Paterno. If we're going to assign blame in this sad chain of events this person is definitely part of it. A big part.

Still is.

There's been rioting in State College by the students demanding the reinstatement of Paterno. They overturned a news van, knocked down street lights and police had to disperse them last night with tear gas and pepper spray.

Really...football is a religion in that part of the state and Paterno is their God.
