It seems to me that if Joe Paterno is the man you are saying he is Sashareign, then he should have realized that the state law applied to him and the onus was on his shoulders to carry out the law as it is written. Saying that others are responsible in this situation as well, doesn't absolve the fact that Paterno passed the buck. Also, saying that Paterno has done so much for the college does not absolve him of wrong doing because in other instances he did good things. I'm sure there are other people who had a role in this who will hopefully come to light, but it does seem like Paterno let those molested kids down. It seems like football was more of his focus then they were. I of course am not an authority, but that 's how it looks with what evidence I"ve seen so far. When I read Kana's post, for me the argument was closed, Paterno broke the law. He was the first in that chain to do so - just because the others did too does not mean that he should be given a pass. From Kana's post... "The laws in Pennsylvania regarding mandatory reporting of suspected child abuse can be found in 23 Pa. C.S. 6111-6119. Section 6111 has to do with the responsibility of mandated reporters to report suspected child abuse. Subsection c is quite important, as it has to do with the responsibilities of staff members of institutions. It reads thus: (c) Staff members of institutions, etc.--Whenever a person is required to report under subsection (b) in the capacity as a member of the staff of a medical or other public or private institution, school, facility or agency, that person shall immediately notify the person in charge of the institution, school, facility or agency or the designated agent of the person in charge. Upon notification, the person in charge or the designated agent, if any, shall assume the responsibility and have the legal obligation to report or cause a report to be made in accordance with section 6313. This chapter does not require more than one report from any such institution, school, facility or agency."
