(Well, in framing a response, Tazzy, let's take a page from the recent behavior of a few libs I used to have some respect for, and the antics of a bunch, with nothing better on their best day.)

So you approve of the sexual exploitation of professional subordinates then?

Frankly I think it was a good idea for those who accused Cain and Cain to meet to meet and hopefully come to some resoluation of this. Cain, as any one has the right to publicly face his accuser. However, as I suspected there are alot of hidden agenda going on and there is a lack of news coverage, which I think was one of the accusers goal.

As to rape I do believe there are real cases of this. But one can not discount false reports nor that there are alternative motives to make such claims. The one that sticks out for me is the Tawana Brawley Hoax. A girl claimed she was kidnaped and raped by police officers. The Rev. Al Sharpton ran this throught press almost daily with claims of racism and such by police. In the end no evidence nor did Brawley after making claims of rape by police testify at a Grand Jury investation, it was finally demed a hoax. Some of those who worked for Rev Al Sharpton left stating the Rev new it was a hoax and he wanted to find a way to get attention so he could use it as a platform to gain attention.

What about charges and settlements don't you understand? Why would they need to meet and talk about something that is already done

Don't ask me it was Joel Bennett who attempted the conference. Ask Bennett

however, Rape is a much more far reaching crime than just the US..and the figures dont actually seem to change that much between "civilised" worlds.

No arguments there.

I'm just interested in establishing a baseline for calm discussion.

Can we agree that some reported rapes are false reports, and that such false reports are likely caused by the reasons I listed previously?

Joel Bennett is the attorney for Karen Kraushaar

Keep missing the point. This isn't rape. The charges have been laid , Cain paid them off. But, of course, they had to be lying.

The real question is if the the religious base in the republican party will show again how hypocritical they are and take someone who doesn't meet their "standard" of moral fortitude.

Of course it isn't rape.

But tell me, is rape 1) the same level of heinousness, 2) more heinous, or 3) less heinous than sexual harassment?

tazzygirl -> RE: Cain Accusers' Press Conference ... (11/11/2011 11:15:36 AM)

1. An alibi,
2. Revenge, rage or retribution,
3. Compensation for a sense of personal failure,
4. Overwhelming need for attention.
5. Financial motives (not through legal channels, but for settlements)
6. Political

the "list".

One thing, that should be glaringly obvious, is missing in this list.

How many of these were determined not to be true allegations because a woman dropped the charges? Where do those fit in?

quote:

For example, in terms of the initial disclosure, unlike false accusers, true victims tend to go directly to law enforcement to file a report. False accusers are more apt to tell family members or close friends, who either report the rape themselves or push the victim to do so.

Really??? We are going with that, really???

Where are their values now?

Probably in the same sort of internal compartment where the liberals put their feelings about the President of the United States being repeatedly accused of sexual misconduct and harassment, and the established fact that he liked using at least one White House intern for little sex shows and blowjobs.

[8|]
Sorry Rich, that little charge doesn't apply to me....Clintons shenanigans in the Oval Office, the perceived cronyism present there led me to two of the most embarrassing votes I have ever cast
To my undying shame.....
Of course the investigation into the blowob was a major waste of taxpayers money....and partisan politics at it's worst...why I didn't see that probably says more aout where I was at the time bitterness wise.

Actually Id be more interested in the reasons given for NOT reporting rape,
Sorry , when there are people calling the women liars because they didnt do this and they didnt do that and they are nameless and using allred , andother dumb condemnations, there is no basis for rational discussion regarding rape and unreported rape.
let alone harrassment.
you notice why a majority of women here arent calling them(women) liars?
why is that do you think?

So, in essence, you are calling those women liars?

DYB, and that deauchbag lawyer of theirs was calling them,..."victims" on hearesay evidence.
Seems she had visions of sugarplums and $dollar sign$ dancing in her eyes too.

Joel Bennett is the attorney for Karen Kraushaar

He is? Really?? I never would have guessed!

Now that we can get past that...

Cain accuser Karen Kraushaar and her attorney Joel Bennett tried to organize a news conference with all four of the women, but Bennett said he had not made contact with the two women who have not publicly revealed their identities.

They were to have a conference with each other... not Cain

I think it would be a good idea to have all parties present.
