I don't see a favoritism toward female posters, but then I mostly see females posting!

i do, and i think it has to do with the fact that there are more females posting.

I see a lot of anti-femdom bias, from men and women.

i haven't seen much that i would describe as hostility towards femdoms, but i do often see the presumption that women must be subs and men must be doms. i admit i'm guilty of that myself, on occasion.

Isn't that presumption--which is utter bigotry--a form of hostility? I know that I rarely post in the master forum for that reason.

In my case, it is merely a form of ignorance.

i think when someone saunters in with a pronouncement like "men are supposed to rule, women are supposed to follow" then that's a kind of hostility towards female dominance. -- they're basically saying "you're wrong by every scope of imagination," which is a pretty hostile thing to say about the core of someone's being.
i've seen quite a few profiles with "female supremacy" set as a hard limit. =p

there is a bias towards female posters, but, like you guys have said, that's probably mostly because those of us who post all the time are predominantly female.

No, not fair enough at all. Being honest doesn't have equate to being rude.

I think that's true of everyone who feels that way, but I consider gender superiority to be akin to "racial" superiority---utter bollocks.

agreed -- it's a reflection of an "-ism" that needs to be done away with. it doesn't do any good for anyone.

I strongly disagree, honestly !!

I think there is a lot of honesty on this forum, it's why I like it. There is also attacking personal character, petty vindictiveness, and all the rest.

Certainly there is too much beating up on newbies who make (innocent) mistakes, as well as making assumptions about what someone is saying (often based on who they are perceived to be) instead of politely asking for clarification.

But as with all things, it is what it is. You can't change it. You can only change your part in it.

You don't like angry insults? Then don't make any. You don't like those who read into other's words, making huge assumptions, and then go on a completely erroneous tirade? Well, try not to be one of those people.

Of course there is bias here, this is a forum made of people, and it is human nature to be biased.

i didn't say i thought one gender was superior. However, i have occasionally made an an assumption about a new poster's orientation based on their gender, and then found out, to my chagrin, that i was wrong.

When it comes to people's kinks, i think it's the other way around. People get ripped apart for saying that they have male superiority as a kink or racial superiority as a kink, and i don't think they should be- not for having that as a KINK. When it comes to real life, well, that's another story.

As a kink, yeah, but MOST of the time...it's kink giving them permission to express how they really feel.

That said, race play is a perfectly valid kink, as is Nazi play, and a whole host of other things that to me are really edgy psychological minefields. I think that the proliferation of black femdom/white malesub couples is a form of race play in itself, however subtle.

I will say that CM is not the most kink-friendly place when the kink is outside the zone of flogging...

I don't think I've ever seen someone say that they believe women are superior just during sex/play but equal the rest of the time. And that's the problem with female or male superiority, it isn't just as a kink. It's always a whole life issue.

But for myself, it's too damned awkward to write things out from gender neutral perspective. I've tried it and I can't find a way to make the sentences readable. It's simply easier to write it out from my pov which is male dom/fem sub and trust that people will change it to fit their own circumstances. The fact that there simply are more male doms and fem subs than the other way around doesn't mean we therefore view those who are different from us as wrong. Or at least I don't and most posters who I respect also don't.

No, not fair enough at all. Being honest doesn't have equate to being rude.

Unfortunately different people have a different measure of what is rude.
There are people on here that would suggest that most nearly everything that isn't perfectly spelled, perfectly worded, properly punctuated, perfect grammer, in proper paragraphs, correct honourifics, no curse words, and only the very least little bit of being disagreeable with the current concept of what the mode of moderation should be, rude.

And yes, there is still an over all feel that hetro, male dominant female slave, M/s is THEE most acceptable relationship model.

I only post here sporadically, but I don't think this board is any more "biased" than other internet forums. Every forum develops its own culture. Some tend to be more harsh and abrasive than others.

One thing that makes this forum slightly different from most other forums I've observed is that everybody's profile is linked to a personal ad of some sort. I often see references to "the other side" (meaning the personals side), and it seems that many regulars view the personals side as being a completely different site, for all practical purposes.

However, a newbie coming to the site for the first time may not realize this at first. That's where (I've observed) some of the problems and possible biases come into play. Similarly, when one looks at the forum and sees "ask a mistress," "ask a submissive," etc., it might make one tend to think that this is something like a "Dear Abby" forum, expecting "Dear Abby" type answers. They might be expecting good old fashioned arm-around-the-shoulder sympathy for their plight (whatever it may be).

But that expectation might be unrealistic for internet forums in general. I learned that early on when I first got connected to the internet in the mid-90s. I was thinking that "people are people, and there's no reason to expect that the people on the internet would be any different than the people I meet in real life." That was a huge misperception on my part, since I wrongly assumed that people would be just like the average person here in southern AZ.

But when communicating with people from back east or large urban areas with different cultures and ways of expressing themselves, it can feel a bit strange.

For example, others brought up how some are harsh, rude, or abrasive, while others view that as "just being honest." I find that when I travel to large cities, the people tend towards a more hardened attitude than one would find in smaller cities and towns. When I've traveled to the Northeast or the rust belt states, a lot of the people there tend to rub me the wrong way. I don't know why that is, but they just do. I understand and relate to the people of the Southwestern USA better.

Apart from that, there are those who are more free-spirited and rebellious, then there are pranksters and jokers who just like to have fun, and then there are those who go around like they've got a cucumber stuck up their butt (this last group is to trolls what a red cape is to a bull). When all these different types of people get together on the same forum, it can be interesting at times. That's what keeps me coming back.
