LillyBoPeep -> Staple guns (11/20/2011 12:34:03 AM)

Tonight (I guess, last night) I went to a party and got to see a great scene involving a staple gun. It was something I wasn't really expecting, and it was seriously one of the most enticing scenes I've ever watched. Something about watching him grab her and kiss her, while stapling down her back gave me chills. =p

Anyway, has anyone tried this? I have questions that I'm going to direct to the people who were doing this, but I also figured that I'd post the question here and see what experience was here, if any.

They recommended using staples that were less than a half inch long, and obviously cleaning the staple cartridge before using it. I'm also imagining that that gun is only used for kinky stuff. =p They also used tape to help isolate the staples and make removal easier.

If you have done this, how similar is it to needles?
Did you have any significant scarring later?

MariaB -> RE: Staple guns (11/20/2011 3:06:21 AM)

Hi Lilly,
Yes we have often used staple guns. The last time I used one was a couple of weeks ago when I stapled a breast corset onto a friend of mine.

I don't use tape and not sure using tape would be very hygienic as your puncturing the skin through something non sterile.
The staple guns are medical grade disposables. One staple gun per person. At least that is what we use http://www.edgeplay.co.uk/shop/product.kncart.php?productcode=ADV35. You should never wipe these things clean and use them on another person. If I don't use up all the staples then I give the gun away to the person I used it on.
Removing staples is much easier now than it used to be. The old type medical staple removers, if used the wrong way, could push the staple further into the skin. The new removers are fool proof and you really can't go wrong with them.
I have had both staples and needles and find them hugely different. Staples are not at all painful provided enough pressure is put on the skin when applying them. I have no scars from them but then it would depend where you stapled. I wouldn't for example recommend facial areas but then I wouldn't recommend needles in the face either as they do have a tendency to scar facial tissue.

Edited to say, don't allow anyone to use a staple gun on you that you haven't seen coming out of its sterile packaging.

Yowtch! ok, pain aside, I'd think the biggest concern would be infection..similar to a piercing gun (rarely used anymore), blood splatter can get in the tiny tiny crevices of the mechanics, and be spread very easily..sterilize the crap out of that mofo.

We use staples and use the exact ones that Maria sells.

I've had my legs stapled together down the back from the top of my bottom to my knees, then threaded with ribbon so that I could only hobble. The ones down the back of my legs hurt quite a lot and I did cry during. It didn't scar at all, just left little pinprick sized marks which disappeared after a day or so.

He also stapled my mouth closed and that hurt a lot. It didn't hurt in my arms or breasts though.

The pack comes with it's own neat little remover which does the job really simply and effectively.

agirl

eta...I found staples more painful than needles but then I've never had needles used in the places that were stapled, so can't really compare.

aaaand that worked for HOW long?

LillyBoPeep -> RE: Staple guns (11/20/2011 6:12:44 AM)

yay thanks for the link MariaB ^_^
I was kinda thinking -- "if you staple through tape, you're kind of allowing the tape to recontaminate the staples." But I also didn't want to come off as a jerk to people who seemed more experienced. It did make them easier to remove, but I would wonder about getting any tapey stuff into your staple areas.

The staples and gun they were using weren't medical. It was an electric staple gun very similar to this one --
http://www.hand-tools.us/electricstaplegun-p-1094.html
And whatever staple cartridges that fit it. They only used the gun for this activity, and cleaned it and the staple cartridges.

The medical staple gun might be a better way for me to try it out and see if I like it -- rather than throwing money at staples and a gun and deciding I don't. I'm imagining you'd recommend against using a typical staple gun/staples?

Stapling your mouth would probably seriously be ouchy. =p yiiiikes! I would be afraid to do it on my face, but the one I saw was a hardware store gun, maybe a medical gun isn't as forceful? I dunno

Its not our site. We used to own Edgeplay but sold it on a year ago (just in case you guys think I'm advertising!!)

Bloody hell agirl, your hard core!!

MariaB -> RE: Staple guns (11/20/2011 9:57:14 AM)

Lilly, I know you probably know that you shouldn't be using a normal staple gun like the one in your link.
Although you can get stainless staples for a normal staple gun (medical staples are always stainless steel) its more likely to be mild steel, zinc plated and sometimes not even plated, they are not sterile and they are contaminated with all the glue and things which hold them together before you put them in the staple gun. When the staples go in they go in straight and so will penetrate deeper, driving any contaminates well under the skin.
Cleaning the gun is all well and good if he only ever uses it on one person. Some blood pathogens can survive for weeks and can't be cleaned off with normal cleaning solutions.

With a medical staple gun the staple is shaped to form a C so that it doesn't penetrate too deeply but can hold together the skin. The tip of the staple is almost as fine as a needle point and the metal used is un-flawed.

LillyBoPeep -> RE: Staple guns (11/20/2011 9:59:01 AM)

I don't really know, that's why I'm asking. I'm just reporting things as I saw them and asking for information from anyone who has more experience and can offer an opinion.
The two people in question are a couple, so I assume they only use it when they play, and not for others.

NiceButMeanGirl -> RE: Staple guns (11/20/2011 10:30:53 AM)

There are actually such things as sterile surgical staples and also a staple remover made just for them. As a nurse, I've removed many of those staples over the years.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Staple guns (11/20/2011 10:44:47 AM)

I have seen some astounding scenes using actual toolbox staple guns...and all I can do is bown down to tht level of masochism!

Industrial staples are not clean, may or may not have some kind of oil on them, and do not have milled-smooth edges. Not u nlike the real live NAILS some folks use. Calculated risk. ;)

Staples fun!

TheFireWithinMe -> RE: Staple guns (11/20/2011 10:53:31 AM)

that really made me squirmy MSL, I'm really curious about trying stapling now. Yet another thing to try added to my list.

RumpusParable -> RE: Staple guns (11/20/2011 10:54:10 AM)

I've never done it, but can compare to surgical staples and then extrapolate.

With surgical the risk of infection is minuscule (from the staples themselves, we won't compare aftercares here). With regular staples it is high. As another pointed out, they are dirty. Washing them would not remove enough of the grime on them and in all those little crevices to matter, really.

Surgical staples are smaller, better material, and sharper whereas a regular staple is much larger, lower quality material, and very blunt (even the pointed tip ones, when talking about entering skin). Surgical staples can leave scars on some people; I have them on one arm and all down my back, though after so long they are white. A hardware style stapler would have a much higher tendency to cause scarring and to make larger scars. How much for either would depend on the skin of the bottom.

LillyBoPeep -> RE: Staple guns (11/20/2011 10:59:52 AM)

Yeah, someone else also pointed out that those staples can be flimsy. Flimsiness poses its own possible issues -- if a part of it broke off, you'd have to go to great lengths to get it out.

And if you were really intent on cleaning the staples, the only way you could get rid of the binder would render them useless for a staple gun. =p

LadyHibiscus -- yeah, this scene was pretty great to watch. It was really intense, but in a quiet way (in spite of the "pow!" sound of the staple gun. =p)

amaidiamond -> RE: Staple guns (11/20/2011 11:06:05 AM)

OMG that link is Owwwieee... lol my Sir said "at least when I do that to you it will be a medical stapler" - not sure how much conselation that is though!

I have tried staples and love the feel, though being stapled "there" scares me.... agirl, we have been discussing stapling the mouth, but concerned for scars, how long did the marks take to go may i ask?

MercTech -> RE: Staple guns (11/20/2011 2:20:38 PM)

I guess if you WANT scars you need to move it up a notch and use hog rings.
