It strikes me as mocking people who believe that cross, or rainbow, or star of David, to be a symbol of something precious to them for someone to wear it as an instrument of humiliation. This is why he's making her wear it, because of what it means to those who revere it. It just seems unnecessarily ugly to me. Maybe it's stupid, I just can't take something meaningful to someone else and treat it like dirt even if it doesn't mean the same to me. I know no one else knows about it, even those that it would hurt to have it treated poorly, still bugs me.

Have her hunt up passages in the bible that have to do with obedience then memorize them. You can have her dress up (or be sans clothes - as you like) then recite them to you while she's on her knees in front of you holding her bible. When she stumbles or stutters over a passage, hit her on the knuckles with a ruler and tell her that Sister Paula is going to be very unhappy with her. Make her do penance.

Have her hand out bibles instead of candy on Halloween.

Have her give bibles as gifts at Christmas.

Have hsve bibles as gifts for Valentine's day, Easter, birthdays and other gift giving occasions. Be sure to brag to all and sundry how much you love the bibles she gives you.

Well unless she wears a sign that states that she doesn't really believe and is just wearing the cross for humiliation purposes no one will know will they? So no ones feeling would be hurt. Now I am not sure where you are coming up with "treating it like dirt" part. He said she was going to wear it around her neck, not destroy it.

I freely admit this is a weird thing about me, perhaps it's just so individual I shouldn't have mentioned it. I get what you're saying, and I did say that the others who value these things wouldn't even know about it. It just still squicks me out. Mentally it's hard for me to take things that are valuable to others and use them as vehicles for personal gratification or to demean them even if no one else ever knows about it.

I have a teacher right now that makes anyone in the class cover up their bellybutton piercings, it makes her sick to her stomach. We have to wear sport bras and shorts to practice physical therapy techniques, so there are glimpses of bellybuttons here and there. It's weird and kind of funny to anyone but her. She's deadly serious about making those students wrap Ace bandages around their stomachs. My 'thing' here is probably just as incomprehensible to anyone but me. No one would know but me, and still I couldn't do it. Carry on with the regularly scheduled program....thanks.

People aren't necessarily upset about the "humiliation", if there actually is any in doing this. Religion tends to be a core value for many people and it's usually something that shouldn't be touched.

Personally, if someone tried to force me to display belief in something I don't believe in, I'd be angry rather than humiliated.

Since your girlfriend is against religion, I guess that this won't offend her religious beliefs.  If she WERE religious, then I'd say that religion is an area that is very touchy for some, and probably should be avoided.  But since that's not the case, I'll offer a few suggestions.

1)  Buy one of those t-shirts that say "WWJD?", and make her wear it out in public.

2)  Go to a church and pick up a few gospel tracts (those little pamphlets on "How to be saved").  Most churches will have them available for free.  Find one that says "Are you saved?"  or something to that effect.  Grab a handful of them, and have her stand on a busy street corner passing them out to people who walk by.

3)Any time she eats out at a restaurant or at someone's home, make her fold her hands in front of her and bow her head as though she is in prayer.  Make her hold this position for a full minute before she is allowed to begin eating her meal.  After the 60 seconds has elapsed, make her say "Amen" so those at the table with her can hear it.  Only then, will she be permitted to eat her food.

4)  Find a Bible, and make her carry it with her everywhere she goes.  Don't allow her to put it in her purse.  Make sure it is a full-sized Bible, and make her carry it in her hand so it is visible.

5) Anytime she sees a woman wearing a skirt or dress that is above their knees, make her stop and make that cross sign that Catholics do.  You could also make her do it anytime she hears anyone cuss in public, or anytime she sees someone smoking.

6) Make her replace the word "hello" with the words "Praise Jesus".  So anytime her phone rings, she'll answer it by saying "Praise Jesus".  Or if she meets one of her friends at the mall, when they say "hi" or "hello" to her, she'll respond by saying "Praise Jesus".

7) Make her go to Walmart (or a similar busy store) and find 10 people that she will approach and say "Are you saved?"

8) Institute "random act of Christian charity" days.  On the days that you select, anytime she spends money, if the cashier gives her change back from her purchase, make her hand it back to them and say "Jesus told me to bless you with this."  Then she'd have to let them keep her change.

Those are just a few ideas.  I hope that helps.

You aren't the only one lizi.

With your instructor, while I understand she doesn't like it, it also isn't very professional looking. I'm sure that while you guys have to wear shorts, they can't be too short for the same reason.

The thing is that this really isn't about "humiliation." The undertone is making fun of those who are religious and that is what is wrong with it. Look at bitatrouble's "suggestions." They almost all involve bringing the public into the "humiliation" play. Walk into a church dressed like a school girl and go to confession? I mean really?

In order to get your own kink on (general your), you should never have to resort to disrespecting a group of people.

How about if she was Jewish and to humiliate her, he decided she should walk around with a yellow star of David sewn to all her clothes? Is THAT ok? Or maybe asking her to wear little Hitler happy faces? Would that be ok, or does that become offensive to people?

It all comes back to the stupidity of the statement, "your kink is not my kink, but you can do whatever you want, and it is ok." The reality is that there are things where there is a line in the sand, and decent people don't cross it.

Really, and is the humiliation ever for anything EXCEPT the sake of it when used in a BDSM concept?
I dunno.  I kinda dug some forms of humiliation, but they were more sexual and made me wet.

I disagree, boi, in light of some of the suggestions. Things they do in private is fine, things they do that no one else would "get" is ok too. But when you start bringing in other people into the game of humiliation then it goes too far.

I agree with this. Most of the suggestions made on this thread, so far, involve forcing others to participate in a person's kink.
Usually when such a topic is brought up everybody is up in arms and pissed off, and can't wait to chastise the OP for being disgusting and so on, for even considering to involve innocent bystanders in their kink.

Why is this topic suddenly so different?
Why is it suddenly okay to make innocent bystanders feel uncomfortable, or to force them in a situation they don't want to be in?
Why is okay to force others to partake in kinky role-play that involves religion, but it wouldn't be okay to do with other kinds of role-play?

It's obvious that this is a sensitive topic for you.  And we understand why.  I even started my post with a caveat.

But on these boards, I try not to be judgmental of other people's kink.  I noted that religion was a touchy subject, but then I tried to help the OP out.  I think that's all anyone is trying to do.  We are not justifying his kink.  But he did ask a question, and I think he was sincere.

Hell, I'm black.  But I don't get upset with those who enjoy race play.  I just choose not to participate in it myself.  But I would never chastise those who enjoy race play.

I don't "get" humiliation. I understand that others do.

I am, however, uncomfortable with linking humiliation with a core belief. Whether a believer (of any faith), agnostic, or atheist, most of us have strong views for or against religion: whatever our personal choice, there does seem to be an element of the religious in the human psyche. Using that as a humiliation tool seems to me wrong on a gut level, rather than a logical level. My gut also tells me that I would also be uncomfortable if the instrument of humiliation were race, gender or sexual orientation.

Somewhere, you have to think about where you draw a line in the sand. I think one of mine is here. I cannot logically defend it, but I feel it.

Because its forcing someone with a religion to become involved, making it perfectly "ok" in some peoples' minds... at least that is the way I am reading all this.

But that's the very nature of humiliation play.  It's not very humiliating if only the two participants see it.  For example, most people who practice "forced feminization" do so by making the male go out in public in female garments or behaving in ways that would be viewed as female.

I understand that religion is a touchy subject.  But some of you seem to be forgetting the very nature of humiliation play. 

Forget about your personal feelings on the ethics of the OP's kink.  How would YOU recommend they exercise that kink without exposing anyone else to it?  I don't think his slave would feel humiliated if she just had to do it in front of him.  And obviously, humiliation is their kink.  See the problem?
