ORIGINAL: tazzygirl Not at all. Nor do I view giving out bibles as a consent issue either. Stopping people to discuss the bible... grey area. Mocking people, regardless of their professions/beliefs... huge issue. The difference, again, is consent. no consent is needed from others to carry a bible. No consent is needed from others to give away a bible (to adults, that is). Talking about the bible as if you are a believer with others who are believers is mocking those who do believe... eventually you will slip up and the people you are speaking too will feel foolish, or may even resort to anger. Pulling others into your "role play" (which is what this is) would definitely be am issue. This summarizes it quite well. Pam, the suggestions that were not involving anyone, i.e. a WWJD T-shirt, wearing a cross, carrying a bible are really, in my opinion, just stupid and not likely to cause humiliation, but to each his own. Suggesting however, that she pick ten people at random to ask them if they have been saved? Not cool. Approaching a priest for holy water so you can grow your own garden of Eden? Really uncool. Basically all things where she needs to speak with other people about something that has that religious undertone to it (Praise Jesus, have you been saved, etc.) is involving other people. As littlewonder pointed out, what are his plans if he keeps pushing this and she DOES convert? Then what? Do it in reverse and have her preach atheism? Now of course, if she could convert either way, she doesn't have very strong convictions anyway, but that isn't the point.
