Don't forget the prerequisite display of the extensive, and obviously BDSM, toy collection that simply MUST be documented for any and all, prospective s-types, and to hold over the heads of anyone that may be seen as a rival for aforementioned s-types.

Number three would have it to the closest.

i myself when i had no Dom did not stop me from attaching nipple clamps to myself i would go in the tub actually and spread my legs under the water faucet with clamps attached, sometimes with a butt plug too. haha It is easy for a sub to grab one of her own floggers and stike the sides of his or her own legs etc... On other occasions i would light up candle sticks and drip them on myself. i do not suppose Doms would do such things, but maybe other things.

I don't know about anybody else's Domme, but mine plots the overthrow of various governments. That's why she has so many subs, we're assigned to her by the government as part of a special CSIS program designed to keep her too occupied to carry out any of her nefarious schemes.
