I just emailed CM support and asked them to create a review/rating system for profiles similar to Amazon, Ebay and Google. This will help eliminate fakes, posers, assholes, etc and hold people accountable to their character. If you feel inclined email them requesting this feature.

FYI. Blacklisting is against the TOS and the Mods have even written a post about it called Why We Don't Allow Blacklists in the Administrative Announcements forum. You should really go read it and then maybe your eyes will be opened. The deal is, if your plan were implemented, someone ELSE could just as easily call YOU a fake, a poser, or an asshole and rate YOUR profile. How would you feel about
THAT???? Would YOU like to possibly have your profile deleted just because something you wrote in it rubbed someone the wrong way?

We could tattoo a stamp of authenticity on our foreheads (or boobs). That would help sort us all out, I think.
You're welcome.

Double points for cock shots, minus points for shots of the hairy eye.

holding people accountable for their character?
in what reality?

samboct -> RE: Review/rating system for profiles (12/4/2011 4:46:04 PM)

"There are no fake profiles, there are simply profiles of people you express themselves in a way you don't agree with -- as long as it is a PERSON behind the profile, then that person is real -- just because you don't like them or don't like they weren't your one, or are whining because they called you a baffoon for whatever reason, doesn't make them fake -- it simply makes you too sensitive to be browsing a free internet site -- so close up the computer and walk outside.

It utterly amazes me how many people use the words fake to describe a person and while i come across people who i don't agree express themselves the same as they present themselves, i really don't get the fake description."

OK Angel- then I've got one for you. Profile on this site described herself as a 37 y.o. woman, well educated. Well, after a few days of emails off site, it began dawning on me that this "woman" had very different thought patterns of anyone else I've ever met, and that some of the language began raising both eyebrows. Examples "The country of my secret allegiance..." Trying to figure out her origin was a game, and one which I initially went along with...Also, "But I'm so young." Since the humans behind it were reasonably intelligent, it took me a bit to figure out that I always identified something about myself- at which point they went along. I say they, because it seemed like there was more than one writing style, but I'm guessing and I have no idea about what gender they were.

My concern- posted in another thread and notifying VAA- that these humans are potentially underage. That her "profile" now has protests that "she's" real, just puts another nail in the coffin- as an observation, people that protest that they are "real" generally have major falsehoods in their profile, but this is from a limited sample.

In short- when the person filling out the profile doesn't match up in terms of sex and age, then I think it's reasonable to conclude that that person is a faker- and the profile is fake. Note that I think the goal of the people filling out fake profiles is the same as crank callers. When I was younger, it seemed to be sport for young women to try and get a guy to have a conversation with her on the phone. It would never lead to anything else AFAIK- it's just a mockery of the dating process, and a cruel taunt for a lonely soul. Humans do that you know...this is just the electronic version.

barelynangel -> RE: Review/rating system for profiles (12/4/2011 5:01:16 PM)

Good grief folks, its a website of profiles -- IF you are conversing with a person they may be trying to manipulate you but that doesn't mean they are a fake person, it means they simply think you are able to be manipulated -- again, the person behind the profile ISN'T fake -- even if they are underage -- IF you read the rest of my post i believe i do outline the options you can take if you think there is something against the TOS about the profile.

I wonder how many times anyone REMOTELY thought of a person as fake when that person lied to them or manipulated them offline PRIOR to coining the word to describe people online. I know i didn't.

What i am saying is simple, IF you start identifying people as fake -- it's time to step offline and re-acquaint yourself with the real world where there are people who lie, and cheat, and manipulate for create a facade. But if they bleed, they aren't fake.

However, outside of TOS violations of profiles -- many people describe people as fake when they don't live up to -- according to the reader -- the person's profile in the way the reader expects them too. I don't know how many times people have complained people are FAKE slaves or subs or Doms. I think THAt is more of what the OP is speaking about. The site has processes in place to deal with the TOS violations -- so there would be no need to rate those as you should be REPORTING them.

This concept of fake really makes me wonder what people's expectations are when they come online because it seems to me they many times lose all common sense and forget that people in this world are manipulative, liars, story makers etc. So it amazes me the angst - as we see many threads started moaning about fake -- that they feel when they come across them online. I mean seriously, do these people NOT live in the real world?
