"There are no fake profiles, there are simply profiles of people you express themselves in a way you don't agree with -- as long as it is a PERSON behind the profile, then that person is real -- just because you don't like them or don't like they weren't your one, or are whining because they called you a baffoon for whatever reason, doesn't make them fake -- it simply makes you too sensitive to be browsing a free internet site -- so close up the computer and walk outside. It utterly amazes me how many people use the words fake to describe a person and while i come across people who i don't agree express themselves the same as they present themselves, i really don't get the fake description." OK Angel- then I've got one for you. Profile on this site described herself as a 37 y.o. woman, well educated. Well, after a few days of emails off site, it began dawning on me that this "woman" had very different thought patterns of anyone else I've ever met, and that some of the language began raising both eyebrows. Examples "The country of my secret allegiance..." Trying to figure out her origin was a game, and one which I initially went along with...Also, "But I'm so young." Since the humans behind it were reasonably intelligent, it took me a bit to figure out that I always identified something about myself- at which point they went along. I say they, because it seemed like there was more than one writing style, but I'm guessing and I have no idea about what gender they were. My concern- posted in another thread and notifying VAA- that these humans are potentially underage. That her "profile" now has protests that "she's" real, just puts another nail in the coffin- as an observation, people that protest that they are "real" generally have major falsehoods in their profile, but this is from a limited sample. In short- when the person filling out the profile doesn't match up in terms of sex and age, then I think it's reasonable to conclude that that person is a faker- and the profile is fake. Note that I think the goal of the people filling out fake profiles is the same as crank callers. When I was younger, it seemed to be sport for young women to try and get a guy to have a conversation with her on the phone. It would never lead to anything else AFAIK- it's just a mockery of the dating process, and a cruel taunt for a lonely soul. Humans do that you know...this is just the electronic version. Sam
