I was in the beginning processes of making some very big changes in the direction I wanted my life to go.  What I had been doing was certainly *not* working for me.  So I was embarking on a new life.  Being Spanish, I wanted my name to reflect that, as well.  Hence, NuevaVida, for my new life.

(ETA:  Not sure why CM has disfigured my avatar - hope it fixes itself soon!!)

Here's to the good, new life, then.

Thanks!  It's turning out to be pretty freakin amazing.

FrostedFlake -> RE: Intriguing Usernames (12/7/2011 1:17:33 AM)

I wish I had an intriguing username.

(sniff) Can I have some cheese with my wine?

Seriously, my real name MEANS "Courteous Messenger of the Poor". And that, as appropriate as may be, ain't fun. For me OR you. Nor will it draw the sort of attention I would care to enjoy. Sounds uppity in a low rent kind of way. Casting about for something anonymous that I can identify with was getting old, so I tossed the idea into the wind and turned my back on it... knowing that soon this little problem would solve itself. Next morn I'm fiddling with my toothbrush and note little touch of gray. Boom. That was eight years back. It fits, it works, it sounds low rent in an uppity kind of way. I'm keeping it.

This link is for Pam. See if you can read through it without picking up the beat.

This is a fun thread. I really appreciate an imaginative screename........The reasons for my screename choice are apparent,  I'd guess. I've learned, shared and grown much and am arguably fully "budded" and have thought a few times of changing the name, but as I say in my profile - I'll always be a work in progress. abuddingdom I am.........

And here all this time, I had been thinking of "Flake" as in what's in a cereal bowl, when you're possibly meaning it being a bit of a nut, no? If not, please forgive. Funny how the mind gets stuck going down one path, and not another.

It is good to know you enjoy it so. While I was certainly a bit curious about other's usernames, and figured each had their own meaning and story, never had I imagined so many would be so precious, potent and creative.

I like your name, as it makes me envision movement, growth, friendship, and sexuality. From where, you may ask, comes the sexuality part? From some deep, dark recess of my disturbed mind? Heck no, from budding, of course, like hydras, and yeast, and so forth. Not to in any way imply asexuality on your part, but that in my simple, sometimes silly, biologically life-based mind, it's sexual.

Go figure!

TheRaptorJesus -> RE: Intriguing Usernames (12/13/2011 10:40:28 PM)

It's like, you know... if Jesus were a Raptor and shit.

And it's like, what I am and shit. And crap.

Yeeeeeeeeah.

RexDarcy -> RE: Intriguing Usernames (12/13/2011 11:00:09 PM)

My user name is a name that I came up with a couple of years ago as a pin name when I was flirting with the idea of trying to get some of My fictional writings published. RexDarcy isn't the name I chose to stay with for that, but I chose to make use of the name here on CollarMe.

Clickofheels -> RE: Intriguing Usernames (12/13/2011 11:09:15 PM)

Duskypearls!

How interesting to learn where you derived your name! And what a romantic background to it as well! <Swooning>

Yes, My Friend Clicka, very romantic and nearly unbearably hot! I still swoon everytime I think of those words. It is not often in this life one comes upon another so skilled with words and affairs of the heart, but when one does, well....you know....they hit you deep, right where you live. With any kind of luck, I shall find another.

Fascinating. Sounds like the name of some strong character in a British Whodunnit.

My name is Emily, and I think I do.

I'm sure someone will get the 6th letter wrong, so I'll head them off at the future:

As for me, DuskyPearls is an obvious combination of two words. Once upon a time, through another site, my username was simply Pearl, and through that site, was brought into the life of a very powerful and remarkable fellow, the likes of whom I have yet to again encounter. This fellow was deeply enamored with me, and I, him, and once, in a moment of great passion he called me:

“Pearl of the Orient, my dusky Armenian beauty, the Queen of my tent,”

Needless to say, I was never the same after that, or him.

It is in honoring the beauty of that memory, I put the two together.

That's a great story. At first, your name reminded me of 'Hello, I Love You' by the Doors. Jim Morrison refers to a beautiful dark woman, on the beach, as a "dusky jewel". But I think your guy is a better poet than Morrison.

DarthVaderOfLove -> RE: Intriguing Usernames (12/14/2011 1:17:04 AM)

There was a woman I was sort of involved with in college, not really a girlfriend, but pretty close. Probably should've been. We were good friends, spent a lot of time together. She was a lot of fun. We'd occasionally screw around, she liked to roleplay. One time she asked me to be "silent and powerful." Wanted to feel like she was under my control mentally, but not necessarily physically. Firm and authoritarian. That kind of deal. I wasn't entirely sure what she meant at the time, I do now. But at the end of the the whole thing, was curled up on me and said "that was like being with a more loving version of Darth Vader." I never regularly used the name. Briefly on another site and here.

Glad you appreciated it, Darth. Tho' I was never a Doors fan (apologies to an entire generation of Doors lovers offered here), and wasn't familiar with all the lyrics of that song, perhaps it would behoove me to go give it a listen.

Yup, my fellow was definitely quite the wordsmith. How I miss that.
