I am fascinated by the many beautiful and unusual usernames on this site, and wonder if any would be willing to share their meanings, and the reasons behind having chosen them.

But....but...what if our usernames aren't the ones you found intriguing?

Mine is fairly obvious. It was given to me when I used Nair and then decided to sunbathe and get rid of the tan lines.

My then SO laughed and said "You burnt the kitty? Roll over." Then he thought it would make for a fun chat room name. I've been BurntKitty for about 5 years now.
(And no, I don't use Nair anymore. Now it's an epilator &/or tweezers.)

Mine means gentle breeze in Japanese. At first, I wanted Yasashiikaze (means about the same thing), but it was surprisingly taken : (

Mine is taken from a Depeche Mode song, Dressed in Black Again

"A reflection of you, reflection of me
and it's all there to see
if you only give in to the fire within"

I had to add the word me because TheFireWithin was take but that's my nic on FetLife. To me to really does feel like a fire within so it suits.

Mine is Portuguese for butterfly. I have a "thing" for butterflies; love their beauty. I collect butterfly jewelry and the like. I also love the words that describe them in various languages (I'm a language geek). I tried using "butterfly" but obviously it was taken and I didn't want to be "butterfly10293848..." So then I tried Mariposa (Spanish) and Papillon (French); no go there either. So Portuguese was next on the list. It wasn't until I got to CM that it occurred to me that the symbolism of breaking out of the chrysalis into a new life was apropos.

So, Duskypearls, what is the story behind your intriguing name?

A more feminine 'tantric' plus 'intriguing'

But, but, but...not to worry poise, I find them all intriguing. Needless to say, I do not expect those who feel it is too personal a question to reply.

You see, not being a Bowie fan, I wouldn't have known that. Thank you.

Oh yeah, that's really obvious...NOT! Never in a million years would I have dreamed of such a thing. Who knew Nair and natural sunlight could be so hazardous to your health? That's just downright hilarious. Thank you for the painful visual, for which I might need forever therapy, and the laugh. You're priceless!

Oh Soyokaze, that is stunningly beautiful. Tho' it was your first preference, I'm glad the second was rejected, as I couldn't remember or spell that to save my life!

Mine states two qualities I have that are very much part of me. I'm quiet and like to observe things around me. I spend a lot of time doing quiet things, reading, etc... But I am also curious to a fault sometimes. That saying... curiosity killed the cat.. yes that's me.

One should never say spill to someone named poise.

My name represents my inner (and sometimes outer) ballerina.

Loose Elastic

A nickname I had in nursing school,(1980 ish) ............back in the day we all lived in the same "hut" but in separate rooms, I would go out partying on the weekend and occasionally came back with my underwear in my pocket. I had a message board on my door and people would leave notes to loose elastic. it morphed slightly.

Ive been Lucylastic online for 16 years. My family accepts calls for Lucy, or Luce.

ROFL... I'm sorry... but... but... but... (I wouldn't have guessed it either, but anything I would have guessed wouldn't have been that funny!) I've never heard your former SO... but I did hear those words audibly!
