No, you're not the only one. In fact, I just wrote that, and I thought I hit OK to post and I apparently didn't. So now I'm reposting to agree with you instead of coming up with the stellar observation on my own. The wind is now out of my sails. :) But yes, I saw that and I also did not get the impression he was doing anything more than stating his own beliefs.

That's what journals are for. Blocks of text posted in the forums generally get the same response. It doesn't ask any questions or pose discussion, it doesn't do anything but stand as a statement. People are then free to offer their opinion in response, if they choose.

I was simply observing that most the 'opinions' offered in response were off the mark. They all stated the same thing. That there is no one true way. The OP however, never STATED that this was a ONE TRUE WAY. He offered up an OPINION on what he believed. AN opinion is NOT a statement of fact.

Good call, IrishMist. I, for one, admit my shame in failing to notice that, although I did temper my reaction to just playful joking because I did notice that he wrote it at a time when I'm sure he truly felt it was the right view and shared by many if not all. I could not be downright nasty because there was a time in my life when I recall I did/felt/thought the exact same thing about many subjects. Well, okay, I still think I know it all and cannot possibly be wrong.. After all, I DO know never to admit to knowing it all in public because you lesser beings get all huffy about being inferior.. o.O

Nah... I'm sorry but your point is nonsensical. All we do here is state our opinions, and it really did look as if the OP's opinion was that there is one true way. It is absolutely ok to challenge that opinion, provided it's done so within TOS. Just as I'm free to point out the nonsensical logic behind your opinion on this point.

Standard cop-out answer? Well thanks for belittling and minimizing my opinion. Oh wait, isn't that what you're railing against? Sorry, but every person who comes here reads things differently. Some see the word "opinion" but in a tone that says "this is the best way." It's not framed as a discussion, or something to have a conversation about. It's plunked here as a monument, for what reason? When I go to lecture classes and the professor rattles off his opinion without giving any room for discussion, the that, to me, is a lecture. Everyone shares "opinions" but people challenge them everyday. It's the nature of the beast. And many people, myself included, clearly stated that he's fully within his rights to believe what he wants and connduct his relationships how he wants.

I think everyone is getting hung up on the semantics here. All the guy was trying to convey (bravdo aside) was that in the most fulfilling experiences are built on trust between Master and slave. Granted, dude was a little stuck on himself but, even in the most primal "you get yours and I'll take mine" arrangements, there are certain levels of understanding between the parties before things can get fun. Like I said, dude was full of himself. However, the fundamentals of his premise are sound.
