Its alright though, the scandal that has been getting people killed involves people who have Ds by their names.

Nothing to see here...

Documents: ATF used "Fast and Furious" to make the case for gun regulations

(Credit: CBS) Documents obtained by CBS News show that the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) discussed using their covert operation "Fast and Furious" to argue for controversial new rules about gun sales.

PICTURES: ATF "Gunwalking" scandal timeline

In Fast and Furious, ATF secretly encouraged gun dealers to sell to suspected traffickers for Mexican drug cartels to go after the "big fish." But ATF whistleblowers told CBS News and Congress it was a dangerous practice called "gunwalking," and it put thousands of weapons on the street. Many were used in violent crimes in Mexico. Two were found at the murder scene of a U.S. Border Patrol agent.

ATF officials didn't intend to publicly disclose their own role in letting Mexican cartels obtain the weapons, but emails show they discussed using the sales, including sales encouraged by ATF, to justify a new gun regulation called "Demand Letter 3". That would require some U.S. gun shops to report the sale of multiple rifles or "long guns." Demand Letter 3 was so named because it would be the third ATF program demanding gun dealers report tracing information.

On July 14, 2010 after ATF headquarters in Washington D.C. received an update on Fast and Furious, ATF Field Ops Assistant Director Mark Chait emailed Bill Newell, ATF's Phoenix Special Agent in Charge of Fast and Furious: "Bill - can you see if these guns were all purchased from the same (licensed gun dealer) and at one time. We are looking at anecdotal cases to support a demand letter on long gun multiple sales. Thanks."

And today Holder throws Breuer under the bus. But of course, he knew nooooothing about it. Or the DEA version of F&F, sending $10 million at a time to Mexican cartels to "track money laundering operations". The fucking Hardy Boys have more detective ability than these guys.

mnottertail -> RE: "Fast and Furious" Still Making News (12/8/2011 7:49:35 AM)

There is a requirement for FFL dealers to report multiple hand gun sales, I don't know that multiple long gun sales are any less noteworthy.  All paperwork is a pain in the ass, but since the NCIS really has all this info anyway, from the NCIS backround checks we do by law,  it seems to me that they need to fix their fucking computer systems so we wouldn't have to send out either or any one chunk of paperwork on the shit.   They would also know of multiple sales that were transacted with different dealers as well.

I think the number of americans getting killed in this scandal is still way less than those that were killed in the republican (they have Rs by their name, although there isn't a republican amongst them) Iraq war scandal.

Yeah, don't you just love it when an arm of *our government* tries to tell The People what to do?
We need to have signs up in all govt. offices; "we are the hired help and The People are the management."
"We are here to *serve* The People, not to try to tell them what to do."

Sanity -> RE: "Fast and Furious" Still Making News (12/8/2011 8:17:18 AM)

Or illegally sell weapons to Mexican drug lords in order to push leftist dictates on the people

And why don`t we pass a law against traffic jams.....whatever.

I`d be happy if *our government* didn`t exploit and abuse tragedies for political purposes.

That,we be a good start.

With congress at 9% Pops, maybe we`ll see some new faces in *our government* next year.

Fuckit. I'm on vacation

Owner59 -> RE: "Fast and frivolous" Still Making News (12/8/2011 6:40:22 PM)

We can go back further in history.....

TheHeretic -> RE: "Fast and frivolous" Still Making News (12/8/2011 7:12:19 PM)

Sure. Kennedy and Cuba, maybe? Or here's a crazy idea. Now that MNot has had his nonsense corrected, how about we discuss the Fast and Furious program, the lies and deciet of our AG, and the implications of trying to exploit the inevitable tragic consequences of feeding guns to Mexican criminals in order to pursue an anti second Amendment agenda?

Owner59 -> RE: "Fast and frivolous" Still Lacking News (12/8/2011 7:27:17 PM)

Let`s go back to shrub then.....

"ATF let guns 'walk' under Bush administration, too"

It was ok under the previous administration because they were fighting drug traffic. The same thing is wrong under this administration because they are using it to undermine second amendment rights.

Owner59 -> RE: "Fast and frivolous" Still Lacking News (12/8/2011 8:02:11 PM)

Not sure if the various ATF operations are "wrong".Any more than the other operations LEOs do, are "wrong".Or right for that matter.

What`s wrong,is using a tragedy for a partisan political farce. No matter who the president is.
