So once again the... yes I was bad but someone else was badder...defense. I thought this movement was different...honest...standing up to their mistakes... Yea right... the occupy movements are no better than the people they protest... Even worse in some ways.. it's not as if they were not told the costs to the tax payer... They just ignore it in their arrogance.

What a waste of a good idea

Butch

No, the point in my post is that no one is calling for these organizations to reimburse the cities for their activities. Applying a different standard to a group simply because you dont like their message is wrong.

Moonhead -> RE: Remember the Own Wall Street rioters? (12/22/2011 4:03:38 PM)

Wrong, but a lot easier than finding a justification for disliking their message that doesn't boil down to "I got mine"...

Lucylastic -> RE: Remember the Own Wall Street rioters? (12/22/2011 4:07:06 PM)

Are you claiming they arent comparable then???
If so, why not?
just to prove a point?
Are the figures wrong?
its different why????
DId you complain about the expenses incurred by anyone before now??
why, why not?

tazzygirl -> RE: Remember the Own Wall Street rioters? (12/22/2011 4:07:23 PM)

Right?

mnottertail -> RE: Remember the Own Wall Street rioters? (12/22/2011 4:08:45 PM)

But the entire concept is such asswipe.   The city was (not in a way we like) involved with the citizenry, as is their function.   Christ we aint communists here folks, you hold a fuckin kiddie day parade it costs.

Now we could discuss the efficiency and appropriateness of a city government that throws thousands of cops at every gathering of people, and uses cops to throw their citizens off their own property before being allowed to dismantle and clean up their artifacts, and using those same cops to steal possessions from their citizenry in doing so.

I do not think that is a wise use of city resources.

Agreeing that applying a different standard to a similar group because you don't approve of them is wrong, tazzy...

kdsub -> RE: Remember the Own Wall Street rioters? (12/22/2011 4:10:29 PM)

I think everyone should face valid criticism without pointing to someone else as a comparison. It is not becoming or honorable.
Is your argument that because they don't you don't have to either?

Butch

Hes from England (or Barcelona).  Confuses alot of people the way they talk.

Lucylastic -> RE: Remember the Own Wall Street rioters? (12/22/2011 4:12:07 PM)

Im gonna remember those words

Im pointing out the inconsistencies in the criticism.

mnottertail -> RE: Remember the Own Wall Street rioters? (12/22/2011 4:13:10 PM)

People who remember words are bound to repeat them.

kdsub -> RE: Remember the Own Wall Street rioters? (12/22/2011 4:14:00 PM)

Yes you are and not addressing the original point...see what i mean

mnottertail -> RE: Remember the Own Wall Street rioters? (12/22/2011 4:16:09 PM)

Well, you can't.  There is no Own Wall Street movement in America, the Original Post and its notion are unadulterated purer than ivory soap asswipe.

tazzygirl -> RE: Remember the Own Wall Street rioters? (12/22/2011 4:17:13 PM)

What is the original point? The cost of the events to cities. What was my post about? The cost of other events to the cities. The difference between the two? The first group is being maligned because they are costing the cities. The second group is costing cities without a murmur made as to that cost.

Moonhead -> RE: Remember the Own Wall Street rioters? (12/22/2011 4:21:53 PM)

The question mark threw me, tazzy: we don't have irony in England...

tazzygirl -> RE: Remember the Own Wall Street rioters? (12/22/2011 4:22:36 PM)

It should be on your import list.

With a great deal of sarcasm and hilarity back to the person who said them
