No the point is this movement has put a burden on the tax payers throughout the US... Not one event... not a comparative few rallies by the Tea party... but literally hundreds of cities police and public works departments are near bankruptcy because of the movements unnecessary antics. All these costs will mean either tax increases or cuts in services.

The movement needs to step back and admit to their mistakes and move forward in a way that does not burden the already overtaxed citizen. It can be done don’t you think?

The problem is that most of the UK's irony imports go straight to Dublin. The Irish have a serious irony habit...

mnottertail -> RE: Remember the Own Wall Street rioters? (12/22/2011 4:27:58 PM)

Oh my dying fucking ass Butch.  not because of...first of all the cities were in deep shit with their finances for a good long time before this.  They didnt need to pull all that gestapo shit on their citizenry  every bit of that is on the city management and their antics.

Shoulda spent the wall street money on infrastructure.  The city didnt bitch about what wall street cost em, didnt send no fuckin gestapo in those buildings to start throwing them shiteaters out the windows and out of the parks there.

kdsub -> RE: Remember the Own Wall Street rioters? (12/22/2011 4:35:20 PM)

Ron there is no way cities were going to let people take over and build shanties in their parks... There is no way any city will allow protesters to shut down bridges and roads without a police presence. Now don’t think I am defending some of the actions of the police but in most cities there was no violence. However their was extensive damage to parks and payroll expenditures during protests to protect citizens, property and the protesters themselves.

I have always said I agree with some of the message, if only it were consistent, but not the tactics that cost people money…it is wrong and unnecessary.

Yup, I do. But that not was not the point of the OP, so why are you bringing it up?

However, since you did, when the next Super Bowl champs have their parade, Im sure you will be speaking out that they should reimburse that city for their event. The next time any sport holds any events, you will bring that up as well. The next time any event is brought in requiring security provided by any city, then I expect you to be complaining.

I also want to remind you that even the cops in these cities have stated the OWS is not responsible for all the trouble with the rioting. Why should that cost be included?

Sanity -> RE: Remember the Own Wall Street rioters? (12/22/2011 4:39:30 PM)

Yes, that was the point of the OP and I will repeat

It would be nice if they could carry their own weight

The Super Bowl champs generate money for the city they are in, btw

If you think the reason cities are near bankrupt is down to the OWS movement you need to think again. Try the credit crunch and /or bad investments due to bad advice.

mnottertail -> RE: Remember the Own Wall Street rioters? (12/22/2011 4:43:43 PM)

Hey they gave out permits Butch.  Any goddamn veterans day parade will have police presence.  They don't show up on the day in question in riot gear and swinging batons.

Butch you know as well as I that you put a bunch of tweaked up in full battle gear soldiers at an Islamic wedding or SWAT cops at a fuckin Lutheran Confirmation  somebody is gonna start some shit and it isn't gonna be the best day you ever had on earth.

Just as sure as you ask an insurance peddler do I need more insurance it is gonna be a yes.

Wouldnt "exports" go straight to Dublin [8D]

kdsub -> RE: Remember the Own Wall Street rioters? (12/22/2011 4:44:32 PM)

Hey the St Louis Cardinals did pay the police during and after the world series... but you keep throwing up straw men arguments. The OP is showing the tax burden and rather then holding up to it you keep pointing at other groups and say..".they didn't pay why should we". "Why point us out when you didn't them".

Wrong is wrong...and your arguments are a pitiful defense and I’ll bet if the movement doesn’t make changes the majority of people will agree and the movements message wasted.

I did, the OP doesnt address the added income in both sales and taxes.

kdsub -> RE: Remember the Own Wall Street rioters? (12/22/2011 4:49:40 PM)

Sooo…Now its cities were already bankrupt so a few more millions won't mean anything to the tax payer...right
