Sooo…Now its cities were already bankrupt so a few more millions won't mean anything to the tax payer...right

Woah tiger, YOU made the claim the ows movement caused this " but literally hundreds of cities police and public works departments are near bankruptcy because of the movements unnecessary antics."

Sure the extra costs will hurt the taxpayer or at least result in cuts elsewhere, that isnt what you claimed though, is it ?

The problem is that most of the UK's irony imports go straight to Dublin. The Irish have a serious irony habit...

Hey the St Louis Cardinals did pay the police during and after the world series... but you keep throwing up straw men arguments. The OP is showing the tax burden and rather then holding up to it you keep pointing at other groups and say..".they didn't pay why should we". "Why point us out when you didn't them".

Wrong is wrong...and your arguments are a pitiful defense and I’ll bet if the movement doesn’t make changes the majority of people will agree and the movements message wasted.

Tell this mayor that my argument is "pitiful"

http://www.tampabay.com/news/localgovernment/st-petersburg-mayor-bill-foster-wants-to-talk-about-who-pays-for-security/1202531

He cant even get a straight answer from the RNC.

And, show me where I sad they shouldnt pay? Show me just one instance that I said anything of the kind.

What I did say, and still do, is that you cannot treat one group differently from the others.

Sanity, whats your last post got to do with the price of fish ?

Moonhead -> RE: Remember the Own Wall Street rioters? (12/22/2011 5:14:54 PM)

More non sequitor than ad hominem, at least...

mnottertail -> RE: Remember the Own Wall Street rioters? (12/22/2011 5:18:23 PM)

Well, he is not well suited to posting examples of hyperbole for the purposes of derision.  He could very well find himself quite embarrassed as one of the lawless republican goons and thugs should someone know how to use the search function.  In fact, belay that, he has many examples to come in his next post.

~FR

This country is angry! not mad, not miffed, angry!!

Remember the time when a group of people in Watts became angry at the injustice there?

45 million dollars worth of angry. 1967. Today that would be roughly 300 million.

Ignoring these people is not going to work.

Insulting these people is not going to work.

Flaming them is not going to work.

People have decided to ignore, dismiss, reject, mock, insult, harass and physically abuse these people.

Hell, at this point, the city of LA is getting off cheap this time.

Sanity -> RE: Remember the Own Wall Street rioters? (12/22/2011 6:31:44 PM)

The people of LA taz, and theyre paying through the nose with funds that should be going elsewhere

It was the people of LA then too, Sanity.

The 1992 Riots there cost 1 billion.

LA has a bad habit of getting themselves into expensive messes.

What did they do then? Did they go back and sue the people for the cost to the city?

Are you suggesting that the people of LA arent in the OWS group?

http://laist.com/2009/11/16/new_numbers_show_michael_jacksons_f.php

Were you screaming bloody murder when that happened?

Lucylastic -> RE: Remember the Own Wall Street rioters? (12/22/2011 6:57:39 PM)

no they need the money for all the oscars /grammies, emmys, or whatever and paying for the media frenzies
yanno people that really matter.

tazzygirl -> RE: Remember the Own Wall Street rioters? (12/22/2011 6:58:30 PM)

OJ trial cost 9 million.

Sanity -> RE: Remember the Own Wall Street rioters? (12/22/2011 7:00:44 PM)

Was Michael Jackson pretending that he was only trying to help the people who he was costing so much though?

Did the rioters of 1992 claim to be rioting and looting on behalf of the 99%

Can you defend these OWS radicals without pointing to others who were child molesters or looters, without weaving some kind of senseless web of moral relativism

The rioters of 92 were rioting over the treatment of Rodney King.

Its idiotic to believe that these "rioters" of OWS could only cause 2 million in damage. Imagine if they didnt give a fuck. Imagine the cost to many cities if they acted like you believe they are. Its been acknowledged many times that the OWS group have stopped vandals from Black Block.

It could have been far, far worse.

kdsub -> RE: Remember the Own Wall Street rioters? (12/22/2011 7:06:57 PM)

Yea I guess you are right... there are only a few cities with an occupy movement anyway.

tazzygirl -> RE: Remember the Own Wall Street rioters? (12/22/2011 7:11:33 PM)

Now, to be fair to the cities, OWS hasnt seemed like they have got their demands together yet. Its past time to do so. They want things changed, but no one can change without knowing what areas need work.
