RECENT bad gift...... Just started working for the Federal Gov't. Little did I know that it was like being adopted by aliens. WHOLE new way of looking at the world. Any-who, recent gift "exchange" brought me a cheap-o synthetic blanket / coverlet. RED with white snowflakes. "Will keep you warm," said the giver. Not too bad, right? But, but, it came in original Target packaging with $9.99 as listed price...... No wrapping, just a worn gift bag. Quick - I went to Target on my way home. Said, "I just got this in a gift exchange and I'd like to return it." Clerk: "Do you have the recepeit?" ME: "No, I don't think so. Let me look... wrustle, wrustle.... Nope. I guess when you do a gift exchnage, you shouldn't put the receipt in with it." // GLARE - he was kinda cute, but GLARE anyway // Well, I can't give you full value. Okay, give me whatever you can. It will be on a Target gift card. Okay. He then photocopies my Driver's license - I guess there's a ring of folks, buying cheap blankets and turning them in for less than they paid for????????? So, he hands me the gift card and sees that I'm thinking "Maybe christmas gift paper..." // He points to the in-store Starbucks // "you can use it there." AH ha! Re-gifting rears it's ugly head. So I take the $8.48 Target gift card, add $1.52 to it and buy a $10. Starbuck card for a "friend" that I've been thinking of getting ..... a $10 Starbuck gift card. LOL! I got them back at the next gift exchange - I found a custom t-shirt shop that goes from a JPEG file to t-shirt "while-you-wait." Other products? A mouse pad for ahem.... $10. So, I find our departmental logo on internet, send it in an e-mail to the store, and the mouse pad is waiting for pick-up. // GREAT shop, BTW - NO minimum order - national chain - leapfrog // In return, I got a scent-jar. Pour oil into small vase, the "cat-tail" like wicks absorb and dispense scent. That got re-gifted ASAP, ASAP being the time it took me to re-wrap it and give it to a "lady friend" of mine who gushed. I can hardly wait to see what she gets ME. LOL! <For the blanket, I gave some sour-cream dip mixes. And sure 'nuff, one shows up at our "treat" table with a bag of red / green tortilla chips and is "where did you get this?" and "oh, I really like it.">
