Because you assumed my father was spat upon once he got back. he fought for his country, for that flag, while those he fought beside, other servicemen, were spitting on him for his heritage. Thats why he believes as he does. My father, and many like him, fought for his country, not some symbol, not the flag, not the bald eagle, but what they stood for. And when people are angry at their country, they are entitled to show it. I asked him about this specifically. He said that while he would not do this personally, when people get angry they will voice their concerns. A government that will not listen to reasonable voices will take notice of an act like flag burning. Are these young men that angry? I dont know them. I have no clue. What they did, they wanted to do. And they got the attention they sought. Some feel its worth it, others would not. Some will get angry at them, some will not. But, they will get the attention, they will be heard.... one way or another. Maybe, instead of getting angry at these people, maybe we and the government should stop long enough to listen for a change. Lord knows the government has had ears only for business lately.
