I don't see things getting better in my state. Boeing Aircraft recently announced they are closing the Wichita KS manufacturing plant. That's going to put quite a few people out of work. Hopefully the over 2,000 workers will be able to find other employment, even if it only pays a third of their former union based salaries.

Lucylastic -> RE: Are Things Getting Better? (1/8/2012 10:16:57 AM)

no one is attacking the messenger
let alone bitterly

Sanity -> RE: Are Things Getting Better? (1/8/2012 10:36:38 AM)

You could be right

Blindly lashing out at imaginary racists is well beyond bitter, isnt it... [:D]

Things arent exactly roaring back here, either. Especially in the real estate market

Compounding things is how the mess in Europe (created by European socialists) is threatening to drag everyone backward with it as well

Is the light at the end of the tunnel diesel powered?

Sanity -> RE: Are Things Getting Better? (1/8/2012 10:50:23 AM)

Nobody in their right mind expects or SHOULD expect things to get "roaring" back, that is the most irresponsible idiotic way to expect things to recover after the collapse in 07-09.
IF anyone expect things to rebound, recover or get better FAST, they have no idea of reality.
Please look at the role the big US banks played in the world economy, dont blame socialism without ALL the facts.
As im not up to educating anyone today, you will have to look it up for yourself. Try looking outside the US right leaning media for factual sources.

Since it was the Dems in Congress who started us in our slide, and one of those very Dems, a very inexperienced Junior Dem from the Senate is at the helm currently, no of course we cant be expected to get better fast

It would be remarkable if we did in fact

Oh, facts... like, how the Obama administration has all these very same bankers appointed to various positions within it?

Like... the socialist economies in Europe are dragging the entire world down?

THOSE facts?  [:D]

Lucylastic -> RE: Are Things Getting Better? (1/8/2012 11:33:05 AM)

I repeat

until you provide your FACTS for your claims I am not responding

That is only one of the facts.

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/economy-watch/2010/05/this_european_debt_crisis_you.html

1. It has terrible growth demographics:
2. Someone has to pay for all those older Europeans:
3. Europe has treated its immigrants poorly:
"Most European countries tried to protect homegrown labor by shutting out foreign workers. The efforts mostly backfired, encouraging a massive influx of illegal aliens, who tend to accept rock-bottom wages and benefits because they have no legal recourse. At the same time, Europe's generous social benefits encouraged a massive surge of 'welfare tourism.' "
4. The euro has been a restraint, not a liberator:
5. Europe's only as strong as its weakest link:

Moonhead -> RE: Are Things Getting Better? (1/8/2012 12:55:18 PM)

Can Sanity cite a few socialist economies in Europe? You know, non capitalist ones that are run through voluntary co-operation rather than monetary factors under late capitalism?
It's news to me that there's anything like that left in Europe since the collapse of the soviet union, frankly.

Lucylastic -> RE: Are Things Getting Better? (1/8/2012 12:57:04 PM)

Cmon, you know full well that socialist is anything not run by republican americans
:)

tazzygirl -> RE: Are Things Getting Better? (1/8/2012 1:00:18 PM)

They all play off the fears of the public. Want to get to the older crowd, show someone talking about cuts or changes to social security. What to rile up the younger crowds, talk about changing the ability to get loans, jobs, or the age of being eligible for social security. Want to upset the rich and middle class, start talking taxes.

And, if you watch closely enough, they play off each other to create that stir, knowing damn well none of them expect any changes to ever happen.

Moonhead -> RE: Are Things Getting Better? (1/8/2012 1:04:52 PM)

If we're talking America, the Democrats aren't any further to the left.
[;)]
Accusing teh Kenyan of socialism when he's playing the Emu to Wall Street's Rod Hull is an insult to whatever socialists you have left in the country.

That they do, in every country with the majority of politicians too.
But socialist countries in europe are usually only called socialist by uneducated americans who wouldnt know the difference if a conservative brit and a polish communist bit their ass.
Let alone a Greek Panhellenic Socialist Movement member and a greek Communist.

Lucylastic -> RE: Are Things Getting Better? (1/8/2012 1:09:48 PM)

Moon, I agree with you there, but yanno, our voices dont count to most right leaning chaps

Moonhead -> RE: Are Things Getting Better? (1/8/2012 1:24:22 PM)

Yeah, but none of the Greek lefty parties are in power, are they? The Greek economy would probably be in much better shape if they were, whatever trickle down theory believes...

True that. The only thing "socialist" by our standards is their "retirement benefits". Then again, they use that because they want to get rid of our own and dont have the balls to say so.

Moonhead -> RE: Are Things Getting Better? (1/8/2012 1:34:41 PM)

If you're working an underpaid job for forty years to get that retirement package, that's extortion, not socialism.
Just look how the take up for the civil service and local government has fallen off over here since Cameltoe and Shlegg started whining about those jobs not deserving the benefits packages that are the only reason any bastard wants to do them in the first place...

Obfuscate, call the numbers racist... bitterly attack the messenger, thats all fine [:D]

But everyone with half a mind can see that when the regular Christmas hiring is spun into the economy "surging" or called "gaining steam"

Or called "better political news" according to the AP...

This White House finally begins to become a little more transparent [;)]

Except that there is no obfuscating, no fucking message or messenger to attack.

The numbers are of the same sources and we treat them the same no matter who is in the white house.

That whats takes only 1/2 a brain to understand and without any spin.

Holiday hiring occurs every year but is what...more meaningful or less so now ? Well there's that great left hope in the white house, so figures must be bogus...this time.
