I wish I got in the lifestyle when I was younger.(in my 20's)

Now that's odd, I've noticed that most people get into the lifestyle in their mid to later 30's or their 40's.
Me and a buddy used to go to "The Vault" in NYC once in a while back in the mid 90's and I never saw any "young" people there.
It was the same with house parties too, 30's and 40's were the youngest.

and it took you till now to learn not to lie??? I think you would have learned from creating a fake profile and it  not working out like you thought it would.

Lots of regrets that I wouldn't mention here.

I agree with alot of other posters in that I don't live my life struggling with regret. I am who I am and am where I am because of all that came before. However, if I were given the ability to travel back in time and change a few key decisions with the knowledge and hindsight I now have, you're damn right I would.

1 - I wouldn't have stayed in my first marriage as long as I did, living in some fantasy that I was loved and valued as much as I loved and valued him. I wouldn't change the fact that we got together and married but I wouldn't have tolerated all that I did before it was over.

2 - I would have never stuck that needle in my arm the first time. Again, when all was said and done, things turned out alright and I learned some good lessons but I learned them the hard way. I would rather never know just how delicious, seductive and evil the power of cocaine is.

Other than that, I can live with most of the decisions I've made..........luci

I used to have a few regrets. I realized in My mid-20's that the regret I was holding on to was holding Me back from some of the things I could be doing.

In hind site, I wish I had started back to college sooner.

That I spent too many years with him, neglecting my own family & friends. They are 8 years I'll never get back, even if I have been welcomed back into my family no questions asked, it's hard to make up for lost time.

Ditto. I wouldn't change that we met or that I loved him for a time (and still do in a different way). But all that time lost with family and the hurt I inflicted on them by choosing him instead.....so not worth it even though they never stopped loving me and welcomed me back with open arms in the end. You can't relive that and that's the greatest loss.........luci

At least you started at all! I'll be 40 in the summer and I've just started mandolin lessons. It seems so hard. I can't imagine trying the fiddle

I know I'll make plenty more mistakes, so I try to live consciously, and appreciate the people around me. I try to be kind.

Ash, there are things that I'm sorry I did or said, but those are mistakes that I've moved on from. I am sicere when I say I don't regret things I have done. Maybe wished that there were somethings I had done, and a few are on my list for the future. I just don't dwell on evry past trauma, there would be no time for living.

I don't know - there are bad choices I may have made in the past, but without them I wouldn't be who I am today either.  There are things I wish had been better in my life for sure.  So I don't like to do the woulda shoulda coulda.

However, if I had to say one thing, I wish I had not gone to see the movie "The American".  Those are 5 hours (it seemed) I will never recover.

Would you prefer we lie?

Seriously, I can only echo what LadyHib has already said.

No regrets. Many apologies, tears, forgiveness.......but regrets.......no. Never.

I regret not learning yoga in my 20s. If I had, I wouldn't have missed 30 years on my fiddle due to neck/back pain. But I'm back on fiddle after all this time, and knocking the rust off nicely...thanks to yoga.

A recent regret: I was grumpy and impatient with the plumber yesterday. He's an older guy who's had a hard life. He's really going downhill fast and losing it. He's no longer competent but this time he charged for time spent as if he is. I felt he charged too much, the faucet stems still were backwards and I was just tired of having to rearrange my schedule to accommodate him coming back 3 days in a row to so he could attempt to fix his mistakes. He wouldn't reduce the bill, but asked if there was anything else he could do to satisfy. I was so sick of having him in the house I said, 'no, but thanks for your help in the past."

I'm not going to hire him again. But I felt bad about my shortness. He lives up the street, so I put a card on his door apologizing for my grumpiness, acknowledging that yesterday wasn't my best day and I know he's doing the best he can.

I'm going to the dance now. No time for regrets.

My only regret is that I didn't spend more time with my grandfather. Of course, it doesn't matter how much time I would have spent with him, I still would regret those hours and days I had been elsewhere.

Fairly soon my grandmother will be added to that regret.

And conversely, I regret that I didn't cast off my mother sooner.

my own defenetion of regrets : something you did, which you wish if the time go back you may do "it" in a differant way.

& dont get me started on things i want the time to go back & re "do" in another way, they are A LOT..

I think we agree on what it means, Ash, and I would not change my life, in spite of some tremendous errors in judgment. I can't say that anything would be better and possibly worse.
