Ashjor, I can look back and see many mistakes I have made but not for a second would I go back in time and changeanything if I could. Learning from My fuck ups have made Me stronger.

My mistakes have also helped Me learn how to improve the way I go about the way I do things. I'm sure I will make more mistakes in life but I won't regret any of them because they are part of what make Me who I am.

I met a guy that I fell madly in love with. It turns out he had just taken a break from his fiancee. When he announced he was getting back together with her...(because they had so may years together)....I took the high road and stepped aside. Part of me wishes I had fought harder to keep him....but the other part of me reminds myself that I'm now married to man I adore.

I regret that I did not salvage myself sooner from the wreckage of my childhood and get the psychological help that I needed to finally love myself and to gain the confidence to succeed.  My success is modest.  I can't help but think I could have done so much more if I only believed that I could  - had I had nurturing and encouragement.
I am happy and confident now but what might have been if the adults in my life gave me the love and support I needed.

Oh Smart, how strongly I feel for, and agree with you. My "story" is similar to yours, the only difference being I spent over 30 years searching for peoples, therapists and therapies to aid me in finding my way out of my own miasma. What I learned is that while there may be MANY out there with good (and not so good) intentions, woefully, very few are healed enough themselves, or have the awareness (of self and others), knowledge, and personal skills necessary to help others with serious inner wounds.

I am delighted to know you have found yourself, commend you for having done so, and celebrate with you, your success. Contragulations dear!

My biggest regret is not understanding, earlier, that the damage done to me by others, was not because I was bad, wrong, or deserving of it, but because they were so damaged. That it had NOTHING to do with me, and EVERYTHING to do with them took nearly 50 years for me to truly understand.

My greatest regret? It took me the first twenty years of my life to figure out that I am ultimately responsible for who I am, and who I will become. Prior to that point, my life is a freakin' train wreck.

I wish I'd started the violin at age 30 instead of age 50.

At least you started at all! I'll be 40 in the summer and I've just started mandolin lessons. It seems so hard. I can't imagine trying the fiddle

luci

It's really not that hard. You're training your brain and muscles to work together.
There is a lot more "technique" involved with the fiddle though. It (is) a difficult instrument to learn but I found that if I just practiced over and over I learned it. Also, if you're having trouble with a certain line of music just break it down by measure and and learn each one seperately. Then put them together and after a bit you'll know it!

i have mixed feelings about regrets. the thing is is that if i regret what i chose in the past i would have what i do know. if i'd said yes to the man i was madly in love with i'd have been a widow just before my 30th birthday. it's true that i may still have had a son, but not the son i have now. i kinda wish i'd never said yes to my ex after how he's hurt me so much as i feel like i wasted 16yrs of my life on him. i gave up everything i wanted to be for someone who didn't appreciate who i am and what i was did for him. he took me for granted and made me feel worthless alot of the time. however, we did have some great times and i now have my son. also, if it wasn't for him i wouldn't have got into swinging and i wouldn't have met my playmate.

so yeah, regrets are a strange thing sometimes.

there are things i regret not saying to people at the time and letting them walk all over me instead. but, as with everything in the past, it's something i can't change. what i can do is learn from that and not allow it to happen again.

This is a revelation?

My biggest regret is being born to the wrong parents.

my own defenetion of regrets : something you did, which you wish if the time go back you may do "it" in a differant way.

& dont get me started on things i want the time to go back & re "do" in another way, they are A LOT..

I go by the dictionary definition, which is to mourn or be sorry for.  Sure there are things I should have done differently but I am not saddened by them now, nor do I mourn what was.  I prefer to live in the present, deal with what I have before me now, and move forward.  Regret ties me to the past and doesn't allow me to let go of it.  No thanks.

I don't regret a damned thing.  All things have worked for the greater good and I wouldn't be the person I am today, had I not had the experiences I've had - good, bad, awesome and horrific.  I made stupid decisions that caused me great pain, but to be where I am now?  How can I regret any of it?  The lessons learned have been invaluable, and have made me a better person - to myself and to others.

I don't regret a thing.  Believe it, don't believe it, it's all good with me.

In high school a girl from my class went to a Smashing Pumpkins concert and was trampled to death. I've regretted not telling her that I loved her everyday since.

A brother a year younger than myself got his pilots license about 6 years ago. I regret never doing that myself many years ago. Nothing is better than throwing your bag in a Cessna 182 and flying to Florida with him. Way to expensive for me at this time in my life. Have learned a lot about flying since then..
