Out of curiosity, how certain should you be about a profile being underage before you contact a mod?
I just came across one where the girl looks 16 in the pic, but that could just be a young looking 18.
But in her journals she talks about school, and in her story she made up has references to a 14 yo girl on a website she knows she is not old enough for, as well as a story where the main character is clearly a teenager.

ETA I ask because I would never want to waste time, or accuse anyone of something I had no proof of, but sometimes I see profiles that just make me worry.

I don't think the internet should be viewed as a terrible scary place, nor the "real world" and yes, they're both bodies of people..but the threats and risks RL and online are vastly different.
This is what they seem to miss.

This happened near my neck of the woods. Bloody horrible. Its worth being a pain in the rear to your kids to ensure they understand how to navigate safely through the world.

The terrifying thing is she will be allowed to breed.

No, that is not terrifying. What would be terrifying is if she would not be allowed to choose whom to love.

I don't have boobs and I'm broke.

Synchronicity is spooky.

If you believe they may be... send the Mods a note. They will take it from there.

I've reported a couple to VAA after they answer 2 questions from me.

I send an email saying "Do you like older gentlemen and are you reeeeeeeally 18? I add a little wink and thay can't resist answering.

Next email goes to VAA or Gamma

In a couple of cases, I have seen profiles where they actually state that "Im not really 18 but the stupid system won't let me put in my real age."

Another email to VAA.

ETA, I wonder how many undercover cops Ive had kicked off the site? LOL

I'm 33.
I have 6 kids.
I didn't start using the internet until about 2001.
There, that's my 'net background.

I can't imagine the temptations, and debauchery I could have gotten into (on top of the other crap I actually did do) if the internet was available to me as a teen.
In another unnamed part of this forum, a "princess" posted. She included her email address.
Out of curiosity, I googled it.
In under 7 minutes, I had her real identity (including her real age, of 16), including home address.

My question is this..do you think for kids that age, it's a matter of thinking they're invincible, are they ignorant (in the true sense of the word), or are they bored, playing on their macbooks while Mommy and Daddy ignore them?

I feel old.

Yea, I could have done a lot more damage as a kid with access to the internet. Of course on the flip side, it would have been a lot easier for my parents to find me if we had cell phones back then.

As to the "princess" I don't think they are ignorant of the dangers, I think they feel they are too smart to ever fall for anything bad.

Fornica -> RE: Invincible, Ignorant, or Unsupervised? (1/18/2012 6:40:12 AM)

Just to clarify~ when I said "would it make a difference" (or however I worded it, I'm too lazy to check) in regards to reporting to the mods, that was implying that the kid would just come back, NOT that the mods wouldn't care.

And I'll take the boobs now. I like lived in boobs. They're squishier.

tazzygirl -> RE: Invincible, Ignorant, or Unsupervised? (1/18/2012 8:16:01 AM)

Fornica -> RE: Invincible, Ignorant, or Unsupervised? (1/18/2012 8:41:35 AM)

Eh, even in pRon...if they don't jiggle, I don't want them..lol.

SinFix -> RE: Invincible, Ignorant, or Unsupervised? (1/18/2012 8:43:00 AM)

Well my kidlet has his own laptop... mostly due to school as he does have lots of homework assignments that they are required to be turned in online... but that being said

I am way more computer and internet savvy than he is and check his computer regularly to see exactly what he is doing on it...

and I have "policed" a couple of his friends, as an example one of his facebook friends put his cell number as a sig line.. and I pointed out that even though his profile is friends only.. I mentioned that if he comments on someone elses pics then a whole lot of people he doesn't know can see that number...
