Icarys, I like you, and I fully understand where you are coming from with Ron Paul and Newt.

Hell, I voted against Ronald Reagan the first time he ran.  I backed John Anderson.  Might want to Google that campaign.

But you see, here's the thing ... no man (or woman) will ever be perfect.  All have feet of clay, and we can always find things to pick apart.  All people do things from their own motivations, and sometimes they understand that, and sometimes they do not.

And we can't always predict and know how someone will really act, once they get into a position of authority and power, and whether or not it changes over time.

Newt has baggage, but he also has a history of championing legislative actions that mirror what I want to see.  He's also a fighter - even a dirty fighter - and that's a plus for someone who will be in his position, historically, politically and culturally.

Ron Paul is a nice enough guy, and almost absolutely correct in many of his position, based on Constitutional grounds.  But "being right" isn't sufficient.  If he really had a serious chance, I would take a chance on him ... but he doesn't.  He is doing a good thing in highlighting many of those issues, but his time isn't now, and after a certain amount of time he could do more damage than good.

His ability to accomplish much with Congress along the lines of what he proclaims are next to non-existent.  His legacy would be disastrous.

So, while I sympathize with him and his supporters, at the end of the day you are going to have to chose someone else, chose not to vote at all, or chose to further the destruction of the conservative moment in the US.

Being right is the beginning to a walk down the right path. If you follow someone that's wrong, you're not going in the direction you should.

One of the only reasons he's not running away with it is he seriously doesn't get the coverage the others get. The whole world can see that. I honestly believe if they knew his platform or even took the time to investigate him people coming over would be wayyyy better. We're doing good considering but all of the people I've talked to know him but don't know much about him.. and what they do know is repeated talking points from MSM lol.

I've converted about 13 people. It was easy once I gave them material and talked about his stances and why he backs them.

Here's the thing Firm.. At the end of the day, 70% want these wars to stop and they know we have push for spending to be cut.. You can't do one without the other and none of the other candidates are going to stop the wars.


Tell me you see that? Are we hoping Obama or the Republicans will do what the majority of Americans are calling for? Nope they won't, they'll continue to tell us Iran is a threat with Nukes even though our government has said they have no nukes... so we're going to go to war with a country that has no nuke and hasn't officially invaded anyone since around 480bc which at the time were held back by 300 people on land is a threat?

We're in too many countries starting shit and it's going to be another war on drugs.. It'll never end because there's no declared enemy on the idea of Terror. What part of we are friggin broke do people not understand. Why is that not sinking in? :)

I wrote a whole two pages worth of rebuttals in my last post but I had too many windows open and accidentally closed the arguments. I'm not about to write them all again lol. Suffice to say, I don't agree that he'll not be able to get anything done. One might look at his congressional office and say "Hey, that's proof." and it might look like it but I say it's proof that the congress is out of touch with the rest of the Nation.. You could look at their approval rating for that.

Anyway onto the next questions.. are you okay with the wars we're in right now? Edit: Hell let's get straight to it instead of dragging this out. What are we going to do for money for these wars?
