I wrote a whole two pages worth of rebuttals in my last post but I had too many windows open and accidentally closed the arguments. I'm not about to write them all again lol.

It happens.  Some of my best "posts" never saw the light of day.

Suffice to say, I don't agree that he'll not be able to get anything done. One might look at his congressional office and say "Hey, that's proof." and it might look like it but I say it's proof that the congress is out of touch with the rest of the Nation.. You could look at their approval rating for that.
Of course Congress is generally out of touch with the "rest of the nation".  Unfortunately, so is Ron Paul, in many respects.

Anyway onto the next questions.. are you okay with the wars we're in right now? Edit: Hell let's get straight to it instead of dragging this out. What are we going to do for money for these wars?
I think we shouldn't be in any war right now.  Out of Afghanistan.  That's the only remaining war, right?  Unless you count Yemen.  Any others?

I also think it's time to get out of Europe, Africa and the Middle East.  I think we should do two things, that are well within our power and interests:  Become energy sufficient (Canada and the US hold more than enough oil for us over the next few centuries, if we were serious about getting it), and concentrate on our Pacific area.  Major threat: China, N Korea.

Unfortunately, to get from "here" to "there" won't be easy and you open up the possibilities of even more wars without "friendly" strong countries to keep order in the areas that we abandon.

You can make the argument that we should have never been there in the first place, and some of them are valid.  But there were good arguments to be there before.

But we are were we are, and Iran is a threat of generally our own making.  We can go hide our heads in the sand, but they will still be there, and still hate us.

What's a country to do?

Sure that's who's behind some of it.

The news media is owned by some of them as well. It's all corrupt.

Oh I don't know.. Maybe not get involved in the first place.. Maybe correct the wrong doings by getting out. It's never going to get any better while we're there so the idea that we must or some must stay there to keep a watch on the kids is wrong.

We've disabled the middle east and have helped to bring the crap from there that has plagued this country. The sooner people realize that the better off we'll be I think. Pretending we have a duty to police the world and nation build (Nation Build comes out of Newts own mouth) then we're going to continue to reap the consequences of a bunch of pissed off middle eastern people which have had their family members killed and their governments are going to use that against us to promote more attacks.

As Americans I guess we think we can march into other countries and tell those people how they should live. We can't and we won't succeed. I know if another country tried that here, millions of us would rise up, even if we are all to ready to take it from within our own country.

Not that I put a lot of trust in polls but Romney and Paul were the only ones that when put up against Obama stood a chance.

They want to end the wars.. and he will.
They want the economy to prosper and get back on it's feet.. He has a comprehensive plan to do that. With the backing of the people and his grassroots support and a potential Republican Congress and Senate looming.. He's more likely to make that happen.

As it stands..and let this soak in for a minute.. Republicans can't win without our support and we aren't giving it to anyone but Paul.. so you have a choice. Obama or Paul. :)

JUST REMEMBER:

If there's no Horse Race, then the companies that sell all the airtime to politicians won't make any money.

Is there any surprise they're stretching out the "Who gets beaten by Obama" contest as far as they possibly can.

No worries, I expected as much. :)

Obama it is then and we aren't bluffing. It's a consensus that 4 more years of Obama will have America that much more ready for someone like Dr.Paul if the Republicans won't get behind him.

And I may well be staunchly in your corner, then.

If we can't "fix" the creaky mechanism, then it's time to test it to destruction and start all over again.

Too bad more Republicans don't feel that way.

I say we get ready for a revolution in the coming Obama years.

The premise is false.
But, if true... as much as I dislike Obamao, I would donate money to his campaign, work for his campaign, change my name to Hussein, and name my children after him to keep Paul out of the WH.

Well it's being reported as so in all of the media branches and if you do the numbers, well it's a strong possibility. As for an enormous amount not voting for anyone for Paul, well that part you can be absolutely sure of.

In the end, I'd rather have Obama in as well if Paul can't get in, so I may vote for him too! Like I said to Firm, it's going to get nasty in about a year or so. By the time Obama would have been in office a year or two, man you're gonna see some real fireworks. They'll be dragging his ass and the rest of the politicians out of office by their feet.

As Firm said.. We'll get to start over then.

Since I know for a fact that your characterization does not cover me...yeah,he is done. Completely unelectable, character issues up the gazoo, run away ego (yes,I have grandiose thoughts....lol) all he can, and will accomplish, is to bloody Mitt Romney.
Romney is going to be the Republican candidate.....and the base will be uninspired, but after all is said and done you folks will hold your nose and nominate him...and the American electorate will return Obama to the Oval Office for his second term.

*shrugs*

Perhaps you misapprehend what is going on.  Reality will out, regardless.

Any reasonable person, not blinded by ideological straightjackets will arrive at the conclusion that the Obama term has been a disaster for the US.  Certainly a second term, especially if he has a willing and compliant Congress will result in the enduring changes he wishes to see in the US character, but will not result in a century of "peace and love" but rather the reverse.

A Newt presidency may not be any better as for the end result of "the reverse", but it will (hopefully) be a chance to avoid it. As far as his personal issues that some like to discuss, I think the words of Lincoln in why he wouldn't sack Grant are applicable: "I can't get rid of him.  He fights."

Of course, as a President, Grant was down there with the worst, but in his primary, chosen field of endeavor, he was just the ticket.

Say what you will, Newt will destroy Obama rhetorically in any debate.  In fact, I'll wager you that if Newt becomes the R candidate, that Obama will never, ever debate him.  And if he does, it will just prove that he doesn't understand what he is up against.

Just as many here do not understand what they are up against.

OOOOOO love the new photo Gamma!

Corsets are all the rage here!

Tho' in Newt and Mitt's cases, 'straightjackets' might be a more accurate term. Until the GOP nomination is resolved, they're going to do as much damage to each other as they can. (For once, boys fighting boys has some serious implications.) Each criticism Mitt and Newt throw at each other is going to rebound on them if they succeed in getting the nomination. Their attack material will comprise the basis of Obama's electioneering material later in the campaign. Hence I believe Mitt and Newt are fitting each other out in straightjackets while Obama is laughing all the way to the Oval Office.

We're already seeing some of the divisions being created by this squabble being played out here on these boards as the Right splits into 'pro-Paul' and 'anyone but Paul' camps. In the last election similar divisions among Dems produced a swathe of pro-Hilary people who ended up campaigning for McCain. But the tensions and divisions here are much deeper than that.

Those people expecting a trainwreck are salivating with glee as the two trains - Newt the Beaut's and Mitt the Ripper's - gather speed as they charge directly at each other. As a leftie can I thank the Right for putting on such a satisfying entertaining show for our amusement? It really is the best thing you guys have done in years!

More please boys! Encore! Encore!

Cain.

*shrugs*

Politics is (or should be) about reality.  Cain is no longer running, therefore I see no benefit to fight over him, or discuss him, unless it is pertinent to the race of the current possible candidates.

Your glee is unfounded, tweak.

Politics are dirty.  There is nothing that the current Republican candidates can do to each other that the Democrats won't in the general election.

Better to get any possible attacks out now, so that responses can be anticipated and prepared, and it will be "old news" by November.
