ORIGINAL: LadyHugs What is disappointing, is that the peers don't speak up about it and think it is funny to attack polite people. Being polite and kind to others, is not a sign of weakness however, a standard of quiet strength. Quite petal, fact of life, some like me are virtualy bombproof, we are confident, fit in easily, come to places like this and dive in happily with both feet, any arseholes simply get shrugged off as being totaly irrelivent. Others lack that confidence, it has often taken them a lot just to come to somewhere like this, admit what they are and be open to looking. For them the initial flood with its large percentage of negative and abusive mails can be very off putting. Does that make them weak people overall? No, it means that they sometimes need a little help and encouragement from others.... THEN they calm down, see past the initial reaction and learn how to stand on their own two feet. All that takes is a few minutes of my time, a kind word from a peer, a little reasurance that not everyone out here is an offencive dick. Did give me a chuckle being labled as a 'white knight'... it isn't the first time, but really.... folks here have seen how I react to someone when I see them playing the victim..... Do they really think I react any diffrent in private? Big diffrence between someone who just needs a little reasurance and someone with a victim complex [:D] They came first for the Communists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me, and by that time no one was left to speak up. A few words spoken out at the right time can make a lot of diffrence to another. Other folks don't want to... fine I don't ask them too... I do and, well as I've said a number of times before, couldn't give a monkeys what others opinion of it is, not going to stop me doing so when *I* deem it appropriate [:)]
