Marini -> ****President Obama's Insourcing Jobs Plan**** (1/25/2012 7:37:27 PM)

I didn't see a specific thread, on President Obama's insourcing jobs plan, so here we go.

I have been talking about how outsourcing has almost destroyed America for years.
I can't believe I FINALLY heard an American President state the obvious.

So many have said, "Those jobs are gone, it's impossible to bring them back !", "We can't bring jobs back, we have to "do" something else, and all manner of similar crap.......well, well, fucking well, we sure the hell can try, and bring some of "those" jobs back.
[sm=applause.gif][sm=applause.gif]

It's still going to take years to get America back in the saddle, the way this country SHOULD BE, but damn it, this is more than a step in the right direction.

The internet has a zillion pages on the phenomena called "Insourcing".
I thought this article from money.com, is worth taking a look at.

Jobs crisis/Bringing the jobs back home!

I have been taking a break from the message board side for a while, but I had to start a thread on this.

Bring the jobs back to the United States!!!
I know this could take years, to turn our economy around, but damn it to hell, I am so glad "insourcing" is front and center, where the hell it should be!!!!

What do you think???
Maybe, one day, years from now, insourcing, and being on the front end of innovation and MANUFACTURING, will put this country on the right track...........called PROSPERITY????

It's a simple as the nose on our faces, and yes the emperor stated the obvious and he is still wearing clothes!!!!!!!

Anyone else clapping and saying HELL YES, last night????

[sm=applause.gif][sm=applause.gif][sm=mrpuffy.gif][sm=mrpuffy.gif][sm=mrpuffy.gif]

.....about fucking damn time, this ISSUE was front and center, and laid out on the table.

Peace

One problem with last night's State of the Union Address--Obama said very little he hasn't been saying since '08.  Sadly, he's spent more time the past 3 years cow-towing to the Republicans (and blue dogs) and their wishes than bringing his grand ideas to fruition.

President Obama talked about many issues last night, this thread was started to talk about the phenomena called INSOURCING, and this fucking crazy idea that we could actually DO something to turn this crap economy around and put people to work.

DarkSteven -> RE: ****President Obama's Insourcing Jobs Plan**** (1/25/2012 8:01:45 PM)

I didn't like the article.  I would like to see what the drivers are to offshoring and outsourcing, and why the last two years have seen insourcing occurring. (I have always thought that "offshoring" moved the jobs out of the US, while "outsourcing" contracted them out of the main company to a subcontractor that may or may not be in the US.  But the article makes it clear that "insourcing" simply moves jobs from outside the US to inside the US.)

The basic concept of insourcing seems to be that a job overseas is eliminated and "swapped" for a job in the US.  I have a hunch that hiring within the US WITHOUT a corresponding job being lost overseas would also count as insourcing since I don't see how it could be measured separately.  In other words, we might be seeing nothing more than domestic hiring in an altogether different dynamic.

erieangel -> RE: ****President Obama's Insourcing Jobs Plan**** (1/25/2012 8:01:52 PM)

And in at least one of Obama's campaign speeches in '08, he talked about rewarding corporations that brought jobs back to the US and penalizing corporations that continue to outsource jobs.  Very little has been done on that front and Obama mentioned the same again last night.  So...How did my first post go off topic?

I stand corrected, President Obama did make similar statements in 08, but last night he gave detailed strategies and specific ways it could be done.
As far as I am concerned, he can continue to talk about INSOURCING until his dying day, and he will not have talked about it enough.

Let's get down to business.

Obama and the democrats controled congress from 08 to 10. If he were serious he could have done somethingabout insourcing then. He doesn't give a hoot about jobs. Research Jeffrey Imelt (obama's buddy) and General Electric.

I think you may be on the right track. I do submit though that in fact it is almost guaranteed...the corporatist will take every penny in benefits [he] can while doing as little as possible in actually changing their hiring practices in any way.

Yea right. Not even a nice try. He had to fight tooth and nail to get anything through the 60 vote unconstitutional 'cloture' [sic] and from only the necessary 41 repubs in the senate...to get anything passed.

You see, it is only when the dems have congress and the white house, they have to actually 'pay' as you go...the repubs never did in the 8 yrs. under Bush.

Never going to happen. There are no corporate tax benefits or subsidies otherwise known as welfare if you were to enjoy such largess...left on the table. What is it, 200-300 maybe more already pay no or almost no federal tax now. (40,000 US companies have moved manufacturing to China, Vietnam or somewhere overseas)

The only thing left is to...pay them 'our' tax money to bring back 'our' jobs. Sounds like capitalism to me...rich yet ?

Update:

Apparently around 91% of Americans, approved of President Obama's state of the union address, so I don't think most Americans are focused on what the President said in 08, either.
[;)]

High Approval rating for State of the Union Address

Well the President laid out several strategies, tax breaks and incentives to bring "jobs" BACK to the United States/ Insourcing.

Guess what? We are going to "pay" either way, Mr. Rogers.
Is it better to pay someone to work, or pay someone who is not working?

servantforuse -> RE: ****President Obama's Insourcing Jobs Plan**** (1/26/2012 8:01:01 PM)

Why didn't your guy Obama do what he said he would do in 08 ? He's had 3 years. Did you research GE ? Did you see how many jobs that company has sent to China ? Jeffrey Imelt, Ge's CEO is a big time contributer to Obama. Follow the money.

This will not be the first nor the last time, you are on the wrong side of history.
What do you think of the very, very, high approval ratings, given President Obama's state of the union message?

No, they didn't. There is an old saying: "He who can destroy something controls it." The Radicals never lost control of the Senate because they could, and did, filibuster everything Obama came up with. Things are even worse now since they retook the House, and have compromised the Supreme Court.

servant and many others, have their own little reality.
I can see November, can you??

servantforuse -> RE: ****President Obama's Insourcing Jobs Plan**** (1/26/2012 8:18:33 PM)

The dems had a 51-49 majority in the Senate from 2008 to 2010. They even forced through Obama care in that time period.

servant? can you see November?
the republicans are in sad shape.
Even Castro said, the republican candidates are not anything to write home about.

servantforuse -> RE: ****President Obama's Insourcing Jobs Plan**** (1/26/2012 8:30:08 PM)

We shall see won't we. Obama can't win without Wisconsin. Have you been paying attention to politics here ? We booted out the liberal senator Russ Feingold. Both houses of our legislature and our governor are now controlled by republicans, not to mention the states supreme court. Obama is in trouble big time

servant, sign the petition for me, they only need a few more signatures.
Are you talking about that Wisconsin?
