I don't think the big 3 are going to like that one.

In which case, they can return the bail out money they extorted.

91% approval rating, of President Obama's state of the union speech.

How many people actually watched it?

Good point.  The sample was pulled from those who watched it, which may not be representative of the population as a whole.

We are not better off. Obama has been president for 3 years now. If he wants to get jobs back on shore he better start now. Do you really think that will happen in the next 8 months ?

Nor will it until the Radicals are flushed out of Washington. It won't happen because they won't let it happen.

Marini: the answer is simplicity itself - just pass a law requiring all goods sold in this country to be made domestically within, say, a five year time frame. Foreign companies wanting to sell their goods here can do so if they set up factories to make them here AND if they agree to let US companies do the same in their countries. Problem solved: no subsidies, no tax breaks, no big government - just one law which can go on a single typewritten page. What's not to love?

I am not sure how simple it is, and I doubt it will be easy or simple.
But for what it's worth, I am thrilled that it is at least being addressed by a sitting President,
who appears to be willing to bring jobs BACK to America, and help put us on a path towards prosperity.
I like your style, Viking.
Peace

I wouldn't have a problem with that.

Since it is an election year, he had to do what he did 3 years ago and talk a good story because Americans are suckers for the concept of hope. It's easy to manipulate us with a well placed speach. I will be interested in seeing if he actually EXECUTES his "plan."

Obama is really good at talking a good story and offering people what they so desperately want -- hope in words,  and that's exactly what he has been doing since 2008 even the OP admitted that. So yeah, i can see how people (who actually watched it -- his supporters probably) would approve of a speech with HOPE in it because we are that desperate.  After all that's how they elected him in the first place.

I personally would have rathered he execute his plans and THEN talk about them.

You mean, run on his record?

MusicMystery posted a link to a story about manufacturing in the US on another thread. I cannot recall which one. Perhaps he will re-link it. The gist of it was, that manufacturing is not as dead in the US as many would have us believe.
