Seems like it is tailored towards the scientific community.

Not exactly pure science, is it

tazzygirl -> RE: Reuters Reeducation Kamp (1/28/2012 9:12:35 PM)

No one claimed it was pure science.

quote:

The Owl Research Institute mission is three-fold:

1. To study the ecology of owls and their communities, both nationally and internationally, providing information about their ecology and natural history, as well as their distribution, abundance, survival, and breeding success.

2. To share our research with the scientific community, making it available to citizen scientists, and government and non-government agencies, providing tools for wise stewardship

3. To inspire the public about wildlife research and conservation, helping them to make more informed, more conservation-minded decisions.

But, dont let facts bother you now.

God forbid people should make informed decisions instead of quoting verbatim whatever 'talking points' their favorite paid pundit on cable TV tells them to say.

Try it some time.

See, this is exactly what I am talking about with the "groups" false reality.

The article posted was from Reuters ... it was written by a REPORTER.  All it did was quote Holt from the "Owl Institute".

Yet, here you are, reinforcing Hill's incorrect assumption that the article was some sort of scientific piece written by some sort of creditable scientific institution.

You are mis-characterizing what the subject of the thread is, attempting to blacken Sanity's rep (again) and you are the one who is incorrect and doesn't have your facts straight.

You and some of your partners in crime do this on a regular basis with him.

Jeez. [8|]

That's the problem with my background. If an organism becomes over populated, it starves. End of story. Scavengers have a field day. There's no emotion to population biology or any other subgrouping.

Those were the points I took away myself. Never registered any thoughts about the 'global warming' it was apparently so important we trigger on ... Or anything close for that matter, I read that the food supply was no longersupporting a brief reactional population explosion based on it's abundance the previous year. When shit like that happens, animals (particularly predators that aren't omnivorous) die off due to starvation. And they also migrate.
If THIS is environmental propaganda I shudder to think what kind of freakout the op and others who 'get' it would have over your average monthly issue of Audubon or National Geographic ... I won't mention my personal favorite monthly read out of woods hole institute[8D]

Want to show me where I said a single word about the OP, about why it was written by Reuters, or how I made any attempt tp blacken poor sanity's rep?

I said the research was done by the Owl Institute, which is scientific in nature.

Now, who is doing the blackening?

You are.

You are using your typical "I didn't say exactly that" passive aggressive crap that you always do.

You attempted to change the focus from the actual article and the OP's observation about it, to the Owl Institute, and suggest that Sanity was "off" in some way, in order to discredit him.

You can attempt to squirm around it how you want, and claim your virginal innocence all you want, but that is what you did.

What does the Institute have to do with the article's impact as an emotional propaganda piece?  The best propaganda is based on truth, after all, and there was nothing "untrue" in the article, and Sanity never made that claim, or even mentioned the Institute until you started to shift the discussion and paint him as somehow "ignorant".

tazzygirl -> RE: Reuters Reeducation Kamp (1/28/2012 9:30:15 PM)

Poor baby.

I provide info to Hill and you rush to sanity's defense.

Now you are twisting shit around to attempt to prove your point. You have no point. You are merely attacking yet again.

quote:

I may or may not be the target audience, Reuters may have pulled the article out of one of the many newsletters/groups that are specifically for biologists.

That is what I was addressing.

Hillwilliam -> RE: Reuters Reeducation Kamp (1/28/2012 9:35:43 PM)

Aw fer fuck's sake Firm. My point is and always has been that hysterical, overreacting drama queen Right Wingers do more for the Democrat's cause than 100 Obama hopey changey speeches. "Crying Wolf" is counterproductive. Enough crying wolf and we're gonna be stuck with 4 more years of the same old same old.

As for your remarks on people claiming someone is 'ignorant' Everyone is ignorant of some things. The idea is to attempt to shed your ignorance by learning instead of wallowing in it and perpetuating it.

Ignorance is curable.

tazzygirl -> RE: Reuters Reeducation Kamp (1/28/2012 9:42:57 PM)

Heaven forbid anyone provide any background information into a discussion.

No, Hill was under the misapprehension that the article was written by the biologist, and I had already given him accurate information about the author in my post 38.

You attempted to feed his misunderstanding, and turn it into a "hate-fest" against Sanity, like you always do.

I'm willing to consider that you are just confused, and operated on hate autopilot, because you are so use to attacking Sanity that you didn't even think about it.  It's possible, and not quite as morally reprehensible, but sad nonetheless.

How about we get back on topic?

Do you see any emotional tugging in the article?  If so, why is it there?  If not, what about Aylee's analysis?  Does she have a point?

Real0ne -> RE: Reuters Reeducation Kamp (1/28/2012 9:44:42 PM)

the problem is that government and media sponsored propaganda today is a very real cancer that is plaguing this country and the world at large.

We have eroded into a state of near total corruption as a result.

Recent history (the last 30 years) should have made that abundantly  clear.

No problems, Hill.  I'm done with this, I think.  Although I reserve the right to change my mind. [;)]

The subject you mention above may be a good thread all it's own.

The author is a biologist and you and the OP are placing your emotions and motivations on him. Strawmanning from thousands of miles away.

The author is Laura Zuckerman, a reporter.  She wrote the article.

She quotes a biologist, Holt.

Uh huh. And I gave him the information on the research. You know, where it came from, which is what Hill was talking about in the part I quoted from him.

Again, keep twisting things. Someone may, eventually, believe you.
