I have sent a couple of mails out. I have pulled a few post. All of this after my warning, so from this point on any who wish to go off topic, make a personal attack or attempt to hijack cannot say they did not have ample warnings when the consequences are handed out.

Thank you for your contribution to the forums,

I hereby grant Hillwilliam immunity regarding the attack post citing my alleged actual purpose in reading National Geographic[:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

joether -> RE: Reuters Reeducation Kamp (1/28/2012 11:50:06 PM)

When ever I hear conservatives talk about the Theory of Climate Change, I react like Billy Nye. Its that few moments were my brain goes from 'speaking to someone that has at least a high school diploma' to 'this guy/gal didnt past the 6th grade'.

TheHeretic -> RE: Reuters Reeducation Kamp (1/29/2012 12:14:57 AM)

I'll be curious to see if your hijacking, broad brush attack on conservatives stands up to mod muster, Joether.

An especially plentiful supply of lemmings last season likely led to a population boom among owls that resulted in each breeding pair hatching as many as seven offspring. That compares to a typical clutch size of no more than two, Holt said.

Greater competition this year for food in the Far North by the booming bird population may have then driven mostly younger, male owls much farther south than normal.

I unblocked the OP and read the article. I found nothing remotely related to "reeducation kamps". There was nothing remotely political in the article. There is nothing remotely contradictory between the two statements Firm highlighted.

Aylee's post (#23) is not an "analysis" in any meaningful sense of the word. It is nothing more than an attempted defense of the assertion by the OP and Firm that a straightforward article, reporting a phenomenon involving the migration of a species of arctic bird to regions far beyond the bird's historically observed range, is some sort of "far-left propaganda" piece.

To label this article as "far-left propaganda" is bizarre, to say the least, and speaks more about the obsessively hyperpartisan Weltanschauung of the thread's author than it does about objective reality.

I suggest that the "Random Stupidity" forum be reopened, and that this thread be the first entry. It's not quite up to the standards set by the PA Prison Planet poster, but it will have to do.

Like HK, I read the article but I didn't see any "mindless far-left propaganda". Would you care to specify exactly what you are referring to here Sanity please?

The major inconsistency? That's easy. There's no connection, nor it appears at first glance, any possible rational connection between the cited article about owls, "re-education camps" and the spin Sanity is putting on the article. A failure to establish any connection whatsoever between the headline and/or the content and/or the interpretation being proposed is a major inconsistency by any standard (some would prefer 'fatal flaw' to 'major inconsistency', with every justification IMHO).

On its own this failure is enough to render Sanity's nonsensical headline irrelevant. Taken into account with the unsubstantiated and apparently false spin about "far left propaganda", it leaves Sanity's entire presentation wide open to more cynical, sinister interpretations.

Sanity -> RE: Reuters Reeducation Kamp (1/29/2012 7:29:02 AM)

If you cant see the ridiculous game of Twist And Spin that the author had to play to get this story written, even after Firm spelled it out for you so very clearly on page one, I am sorry but I cannot help you

Goes for the post immediately following yours as well

I could add though, for Denver Holt and the Owl Institute to allow their names to be used on such a ridiculous and lowly propaganda piece as that doesnt speak well of them or their institution at all

OK, how would you rewrite it giving all the pertinent facts without what you call "Twist and spin"?

Owner59 -> RE: Reuters Reeducation Kamp (1/29/2012 7:42:26 AM)

Could I suggest that having a thought and commenting on the subject would cure your mod obsession?[:D]

Does anyone notice that the OP seems to imply they see things clearly while most everyone else is being deluded,when it`s the exact opposite?

I'm not kidding in any way. You claim by your wording of the thread title."Reeducation Kamp" that the article mentioned in your op has an extreme liberal bias. How would you rewrite the article to give all the pertinent facts and lose the liberal bias? Commenting on the OP and how you feel it is in error is most definitely not off topic.

Heck, it would probably be the most ON topic post of the entire thread.

Owner59 -> RE: Reuters Reeducation Kamp (1/29/2012 8:08:10 AM)

Just the fact that cons must explain/defend their lack of support amongst the public by claiming a media bias is proof positive of their desperation and intellectual dishonesty.

They even have their own media outlet and still can`t get any traction.

Great tact Hill,asking for the same info to be put in "un biased,fair and balanced" fux news form.

Which seems to be impossible,demonstrating better than eight pages of text how lame the "media bias" claim really is.

Well, while you aren't talking to me about it, I hope you don't mind me responding.

First, that particular article isn't necessarily an "egregious" example of bias.  It's pretty normal, in fact.  Unfortunately.

If you swim in the same belief system, it even looks perfectly fine, and you can certainly shake your head and wonder what all the fuss is about.  I get that.

Perhaps he could have given several examples, different articles, and make a better case.  But he didn't, and it still doesn't mean that his point is incorrect.

I could write generally the same article several ways, if I wanted to take the time.   One way, I could reinforce the "point" even more.  In another I could make fun of it.  Both would be "accurate", but both would be written to reinforce a particular point of view and belief system.

Straight reporting is pretty difficult for most reporters nowadays.  They also "swim in the waters" and believe what they write is perfectly "fair and balanced".

Owner59 -> RE: Reuters Reeducation Kamp (1/29/2012 8:38:09 AM)

Media bias is the sole reason why cons created that "fair and balanced" thingy.It`s a practically a RNC policy position.

Still,no mass shift.

The populace continues a slow and steady PROGRESS toward more socially open minded POVs.

Maybe Firm,you could explain in fux terms how it was the "liberal media" was responsible for Herman Cains downfall?

Other than outright supression or willfully ignoring the story all together,tell us how you would have handled that story without being biased toward or against Cain?

Bet`cha can`t.

Oh but one can charge media bais,pretty quick......without really giving clear examples....hell.....without any examples at all,yes?

Talk about belief systems.[8|]

NO!

they cant!

some people need to be hit over the head with a 2x4 to "get it" and even then you risk breaking your 2x4.

With them its not about substance of the matter its about authoritarian "approval" and being lead around on a leash!  LOL

Well, not sure why it got changed, but ....

Since we are talking media bias, I thought this one would be appropriate and on-topic:

Guilt By Association Used by Old Media Only to Hurt Republicans

Last week two political operatives were arrested in separate incidents, one Democrat and one Republican. It certainly isn't news that political operatives sometimes break the law, but how the different incidents were reported is typical of how the Old Media establishment uses guilt by association to tar Republicans but rarely does the same thing to take swipes at Democrats.

The similarity in the two stories is that both of the accused are former staffers of high profile politicians. The Democrat was an Obama campaign staffer while the Republican was a staffer of the Republican Governor of Wisconsin, Scott Walker. Neither currently works for those high profile pols, but only the Republican was linked to his former boss. The Democrat's link to Obama was mostly ignored by the media.

Story One: Some Guy Arrested

...

Story Two: Those Darn Criminal Republicans

The article has links to all the reports that he discussed, so you can judge the facts for yourself.
