No wonder folks look at Christians like they are morons.

Megachurch leader Eddie Long is making waves once again after a video being circulated on the Web shows him being crowned “king” in an elaborate ceremony, the Associated Press reports. Other religious leaders have called the video “repulsive” and “inappropriate.”

They only look like morons if you are bigoted enough to believe that one church represents all christians. You would also have to ignore the parts where other religious leaders have called it repulsive and inappropriate.

Litjhonia where this guy runs his scam is just across the county line from where I grew up. It is amazing that so many fall for his BS. I guess next time folks will need actual video of him raping boys.

Fucking hypocrite.

Bishop Eddie Long settles sexual misconduct suit out of court

05/27/2011

Georgia megachurch preacher Bishop Eddie Long has settled out of court with four young men who accused him of sexual misconduct, Long’s spokesman said Thursday.

...Beyond his sizeable and influential church ministry, Long is well known for his anti-homosexuality messages and activism against same-sex marriage, a perceived hypocrisy that only inflamed his critics.

With the case settled out of court and representatives from both sides claiming that no further details will be released, it is possible that the public will never know the truth behind the allegations against Long. This tension between transparency and privacy in allegations of sexual misconduct against clergy members is not unique to Long and his ministry. In recent years, many religious organizations have struggled with the principle of ‘innocent until proven guilty’ in the face of allegations of sexual impropriety. For a few examples, see the cases of Fr. John Corapi, Ted Haggard, and the Vienna Presbyterian Church.

The whole thing makes me sick. Even though many are too smart to fall for his shit, this thing sure does nothing for the reputation of Georgia, or Christians. I would love to take a ride to Lithonia and tell him exactly what I think, but, the jails in that county are not fun from what I hear.

Fuckin moron.

Here is,for me,the alarming part of this,I am no longer shocked, aghast or alarmed about stories such as this.I am of course saddened for the victims, yet at the same time I have come to almost EXPECT this sort of story about characters like this...isn't that ,in and of itself sad ?

I have to say that the "Jesus save me from your followers" is insulting to those of us who are "normal" followers of Christ.
Of course there will always be those who use whatever they can to take advantage of people, but that should not reflect on the ones who don't.
I understand, but disagree with the sentiment. You'll miss out on some very lovely people when you paint them all with a broad brush.

according to the sect of my religion that I follow the abrahamic religions (christianity, islam, judaism) all unknowingly but quite obviously follow satan, while those who would seek a higher truth and unification with the godhead seek to follow reason and be kind to others, although I suck at following the be kind thing I would like to say this. No gods, no kings, only men, and certainly not godkings, or kings decided by god, or a godking of unwanted adult molestation or whatever this guy is.

Kudos to my mother for leaving the Catholic Church in the 80s. She's now a Unitarian Universalist.

New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, on the other hand, has 25,000 members.

I don't think it's insulting at all.

I'm a Christian...have been since about 18 or so...and I'm a contractor, manufacturer, inventor, have products in probably around 30 or so countries, actual revenues from maybe half that and....guess who I've been fucked over by the most?

Christians
Doctors
Lawyers...

(And in precisely that order).

Anyone that tells me "you can trust me, I'm a Christian" or has a little Christian fish on their letterhead or business card....

I run as fast as I fucking can and grab my wallet as tightly as I can possibly do so.

Wait a sec... wasn't this the guy that had to do the big act of contrition over throwing the kneepads on some of his younger parishioners a few months ago?
How did he recover from that?
