Your claim was it was only used for unprotected sex... Your claim of that is incorrect...

No it isn't. That "stats" posted as an argument to my claim only served to show that a very small percentage were for broken or slipped-off condoms. And your dragging rape into it was laughable as a victim would be better served by going to a hospital and not a school vending machin. Thus, a vending machine pill would primarily be used for the reasons I indicated.

How about you try that chemical castration method.. you might find your able to offer a better argument...

You do know the difference between "your" and "you're," right?

tazzygirl -> RE: Vending morning after pill (2/7/2012 1:36:14 AM)

I would hope. I just couldnt help but think that not every student who attends a college is 17 or older.

Most women dont report rape.... nor are they required to report rape.... nor are they forced to report rape.... Now stop baiting.

SpiritedRadiance -> RE: Vending morning after pill (2/7/2012 1:39:52 AM)

Again 60% of rapes go unreported...

If you go to the hospital, they call the cops.... Hmm... if 60% go unreported...

You do the math seriously..

And I think regardless of what they choose they should have easy access to something that will help them..

Regardless of wither it was from a night of unprotected sex, a date rape, a broken condom, or a failed birth control method...

There was a MAJOR recall on an extremely popular birth control... Even if you took it every day its defective... thats a case for the morning after pill...

If you take antibiotics, some of them weaken or negate birth bontrol, thats a case for the morning after pill.

I take it even though im on depo prevera, if i have sexual relations from week 10 to week 2 in case theres something with the shot since its that time that its most likely to fail... even though my birth control is reliable 99.2 percent...

Then those women are responsible for any subsequent rapes committed by their attacker, since they do nothing to stop him.

You are entitled to your opinion. But, until you have looked into the face of a woman who has been raped, you really should not judge.

And none of that has anything to do with a vending machine on a college campus.

You do some math for a change. There's theory and reality. And the stats already show the reality. That reality is that the pill is exactly what I said it was -- an "oh shit" method of birth control.

I never argued otherwise. I just said we know which school will top the sluttiest college list. Like it or not, it's the truth. Hell, college is already known by many as the "crazy, experimental" time in young people's lives.

And being on a campus that has plan b in its vending machine has what to do with being a slut? I know sluts who have never taken the plan b pill. sorta blows that theory out of the water.

What about looking into the eyes of his next victim and having to say "Oh...that guy again. Yeah...you're not his first victim, but the first one didn't want to report it."

SpiritedRadiance -> RE: Vending morning after pill (2/7/2012 1:54:08 AM)

How exactly... If you don't know your attacker... Are you supposed to stop them?

Or if said rapist threatened you and your families life.....

I didn't report my rapist... Because I was very young... and didnt know what to do or who could help...

Nor am I responsible.... For another human being's actions...
15 of 16 rapists never see a day in jail...

Yeah.. blame the victim... Next we will hear how she was asking for it to happen...

SpiritedRadiance -> RE: Vending morning after pill (2/7/2012 1:56:53 AM)

Again just because its reported... Doesn't mean they magically find the guy...

Hell there was a serial rapist in the 90 s who raped over 50 women before he was caught on a different thing....

tazzygirl -> RE: Vending morning after pill (2/7/2012 1:59:09 AM)

But its that one girl's fault.. the one that didnt report... if she had... out of all those 50... if that one had reported the rest wouldnt have been raped. [8|]

Oh I don't know.... How about by not keeping silent and protecting him? Get a kit done, evidence collected...*something* that will help a prosecution's case against him.

Ahhh, yeah that's a good reason to let them continue to victimize with impunity. The only thing evil needs to win, after all, is for the good to do nothing.

Your rapist's next victim might disagree with you. You aren't responsible for your attack, but by inaction you do share some responsibity for hers.

Blame victims, no. Blame negligent accomplices in future crimes, yes.

Outstanding reason to not report. Great job. Let's never report crimes because the guy might not get caught.

We'll never know. It's like the lottery. The only way assure you won't win is to never buy a ticket. The only way to assure the guy is never caught or prosecuted is to never report his crimes.

Man, if only there were some banks around here with your logic...I could be rich tomorrow.

Regardless of how you see it, its still up to the victim to report or not. And, by your responses here, its obvious you have never looked into the eyes of a rape victim.

Ah so your solution is to force women into reporting. Nice. Raped once, lets rape them again through the system, and again through teh court trial.. and again through public media.

Tazzy.. I think its a great idea, I think making it more available.... will be more helpful to all involved.. I doubt it will be placed with other vending machines... However possibly in student health...

Pepsi Morning-After...

searching4mysir -> RE: Vending morning after pill (2/7/2012 6:50:31 AM)

FR

I don't consider this a matter of sexual health since Plan B does nothing about STDs. Pregnancy is not a disease.

If it is being prescribed for specific health conditions, that is a different story and would be covered under insurance.

I think there is potential for abuse and even assault on men (through the use of it as chemical castration). If they want to provide it through the college's health center where it gets attached to the student's records, fine. But I don't think just handing it to anyone is the way to go. But then I'm against it being OTC in the first place, particularly when oral contraceptives are Rx and this is an even higher dose. I find that irresponsible of the FDA and based in politicking instead of science.

farglebargle -> RE: Vending morning after pill (2/7/2012 7:31:27 AM)

Yeah, well, the FDA has always been a political and not scientific organization. On paper it looks good, but Pournelle's Iron Law of Bureaucracy strikes again.
