Not sure I can top it but..... When I was 19 bought an '89 full size Chevy blazer off of my mechanic. Yeah yeah I should have known better then to actually buy a car off a little one bay garage mechanic. But he was my go to guy for the past three years had always done me right and even a time or two when I was in a tight spot and needed something fixed he had even helped me out doing it and being willing to pay him what I could when I could. So basically he seemed like a really good honest guy and for the past three years had always done me right. So I went ahead and bought the thing from him. First the title was a hassle, he had never had the title turned over to his name and had just had his friend at the local title and tag place (who charged an arm an a leg above what the DMV fees were) hold it signed by the previous owner. This turned out to be a serious headache in getting my title. Second about three days after having it I was on my way to my friends house about a half hour away, when I am almost there it dies. I'm like wth. Pull over sit for a second starts right up. Goes for another minute and then dies again. Starts up though. Runs fine and just dies out of the blue once it heats up. I take it back to him explain the situation and even though it was sold as is he agrees to fix the problem for free. This is where it gets fun. First he is convinced it is a fuel system problem. He tries the fuel pump, doesn't help. He tries new filter and lines, nope. Reruns the wire to the fuel pump, nope. BTW at the same time I find out it is leaking gas so he replaces the fuel sending unit. All the while I am talking to some other guys I know and they are telling me it has squat to do with the fuel system. He finally says he has no idea and is going to send it to his buddy who specializes in electrical systems and is going to be picking up the tab. Sends it to his buddy and in about five minutes determines it is the distributor. Pulls it out rebuilds it, puts in new points etc etc. Runs like a dream now no problems. All this work though took a lot of time and the bill is 365, go to pick it up he asks for 365. I say um, your buddy is supposed to be paying. Guy says he knows nothing about that. I go to see the mechanic that sold it to me and he basically explains he has done enough and to bad so sad. I explain to him yeah you did a lot, but not a single thing of it what needed to be done and that's the only reason it took so much work on your part. He kicks me out doesn't pay the bill and I'm stuck paying 365 extra and not having a vehicle that works for four months. I take pride in knowing I lost that man the business of half the mountain and just about put him out of business.
