ORIGINAL: SirKenin Well, I have to stand out from the crowd again. You said "Free car wash". You did not say that donations were mandatory or even expected. The fault, then, lies with you and your presentation. Sure, I would have given a donation, but that does not obligate the next guy to do so. Say what you want, but I see no reason to call this guy names. You got what you asked for, frankly. Next time may I suggest that you be more specific? Well SK, for whatever the reason is, such functions for charity are not allowed to offically charge a price for there service. I'm not exactly sure of the legalities envolved but charging someone for a service may indicate that you know what you are doing as a professional and can be held liable for certain damages if occured. Offering a free service puts you at a less risk should the job not be properly done. There can also be a tax issue involved. Charging means you intend to make profit which Uncle Sam would like a piece of. Donations are different. If and when a kid runs a lemonade stand, the child is suppose to have a permit by the city. The permit itself is normally two or even three times the cost that any child could think of making in profit. Though cops normally don't stop and shut down the stands on little kids, there was one instance where they had to. A neighbor of a little girl called and complained about the kid not having a permit. By law, officers had to shut the stand down. The little girl ended up on David Letterman to tell the story.
