That would speak dirctly to the quality of the punk ass motherfuckers you know in the military.
He is their commander and chief.
The ucmj is pretty specific about the relationship between the members of the military and their commanders.
If they do not like their boss then they should quit.

I think Mrs Giffords is a valiant individual but I am perplexed at what she has done that was heroic. The Navy has chosen to name their Little Crappy Ship (LCS) after a victim. Mrs. Giffords's acts are not exactly on par with, say, the acts of Roger Young.

Is this is happening because nobody could vote against a ship named after such a personally popular figure? Even if the new class it belongs to is questionable in terms of performance and cost, and the act breaks with established convention in naming ships?

Or,and this is just me spit ballin here(I so like to spitball....lol)the Navy recognized her recovery for the heroic act that it is
Perhaps they noticed the dignity which she has carried herself every step of the way since that awful day as being worthy of having a ship named after her
Perhaps they recognized that her story is inspiring and hope to impart a sense of that inspiration to those who will serve on her
Again just me spit ballin

Just what the FUCK does that have to do with the Navy naming a ship after a congresswoman?

This is rediculous, she got shot so they name a U.S. Navy ship after her???
Naval ships are usually named after Sailors and Marines (who are part of the Navy) who are killed in battle or have performed above and beyond the call of duty. Aircraft carriers are now named after presidents, battle ships were named after states, cruisers were named after cities.
What if Patches Kennedy were still in the congress and injured himself driving into a police cruiser or a ditch while drunk (or on "Ambien.) He gets a ship named after him???
What if say... Sen, John "French" Kerry were to get run over by one of his many SUVs (that belong to "his family not "him.") Would he get a ship named after him?
This just isn't right, you get shot and you're in the congress so you get a ship named after you? (Post hoc ergo proptor hoc?) What if she were mugged?
This would be filed under "feel good legislation."

Naval ships are usually named after Sailors and Marines (who are part of the Navy)

The marines are not part of the navy and never have been.

who are killed in battle or have performed above and beyond the call of duty.

Aircraft carriers are now named after presidents,

cvn74 When was john stennis president?
cvn70When was carl vinson president?
cvn68When was chester nimitz president?
cva59When was james forrestal president?
cvl27,cv1When was sam langley president?

What if say... Sen, John "French" Kerry were to get run over by one of his many SUVs (that belong to "his family not "him.") Would he get a ship named after him?

Isn't kerry one of those navy heros (silver star purple heart) you said ships were suppose to be named after?

This just isn't right, you get shot and you're in the congress so you get a ship named after you?

Being in congress seems to have worked for john stennis and carl vinson.
This would be filed under "feel good legislation."

No, this would be filed under someone with a case of the red ass because someone not of his party got accorded an honor?

Thompson, there is no-one of my party in the congress.
And the Lincoln, Roosevelt, Truman, Kennedy, Bush, Reagan, Eisenhower are named after presidents. Not *all* Carriers are named after presidents, i.e. Saratoga, Enterprise. If that confused you I appologise.
And again, what if Giffords was hit by a car?
Stennis and Vinson didn't get ships named after them because they were hit by cars, shot or stabbed by leftie maniacs did they?
And how does one get shot by a leftist maniac and then "qualify" to be awarded an honor solely for being shot by a leftist maniac?
Perhaps we should award all the American citizens who survived that Italian shipwreck medals for being ..."heros?"
And no, I didn't say, "silver star or purple heart, did i? Nice try.
***And, the Marines are "not part of the Navy and never have been?????"***
Does not compute Dr. Smith.
I have nothing but the highest regard for Congresswoman Giffords but getting shot like that isn't even on the same plane as someone who's been shot in combat.
Have a nice day Twisty.

They get their paychecks from the Navy.

They are referred to as Navel Infantry.

They are a component of the US Department of the Navy.

Yes, they are part of the US Navy and always have been.

No they do not.
They get their paycheck from the department of the navy.

They are referred to as Navel Infantry.
Navel infantry are infantry launched from ships and not part of the navy.

They are a component of the US Department of the Navy.

The navy department is a component of the department of the navy.
Yes there is a difference between the navy department and the department of the navy. If you are unaware of what that difference is then perhaps you should disabuse yourself of your ignorance.

Yes, they are part of the US Navy and always have been.

The navy was created by the constitution in 1789. The marine corps was created by an act of congress in 1798.
The navy's head guy (chief of naval operations)reports to sec nav who is a civilian.
Tha marines head guy reports to the president and may or may not inform sec nav of any meetings with the president.
The commandant of the marine corps does not report to the chief of naval operations which the navy does
No,young lady, the marine corps is not part of the navy.

I was not confused I was pointing out that you were mistaken in your statement that carrieres are named for presidents.
Now you know.

And again, what if Giffords was hit by a car?
Stennis and Vinson didn't get ships named after them because they were hit by cars, shot or stabbed by leftie maniacs did they?

They were also not in the military which you said was a requirement.
Now you know

No, I said that kerry qualified by your criteria. In the military and decorated hero.

That is because you are ignorant of the facts.
Now you know.

Since you have never been shot at let alone hit so you have no clue.
Given your choice of fmj or the hp she got tagged with which would you choose?

So nice of you to give me a nick name after all these years...I guess I could return the favor...how bout from now on I refer to you as punk ass motherfucker...do you really want to go there?

Funny how the President is supposedly reviled but members of the military have donated more to him than to any other viable candidate.

Boy, it's amazing how much you can twist the goalposts with a single word, ain't it, Ken? President Obama came in first, except for the guy who beat him? According to your link, Paul has pulled in $300,000, and that is $100,000 more than Obama raised.

Of course, should anyone show up around here suggesting that the military and veterans are all in some sort of philosophical lockstep, they can simply be referred to any conversation you and I have ever shared in these threads.

Are you claiming Paul has any chance of winning your party's nomination? Are you claiming that anyone else has raised more money from the military than the President?

If not then what are you whining about? Was my post not factual?
