ashjor911 -> RE: Whitney Houston has died (2/11/2012 5:41:01 PM)

sad times

PeonForHer -> RE: Whitney Houston has died (2/11/2012 5:42:11 PM)

Shite! What the hell happened?

OK, I'm going to go a-googling . . . .

I'm beginning to wonder - has anyone done any statistics on fame and how it shortens your life?

PeonForHer -> RE: Whitney Houston has died (2/11/2012 5:45:39 PM)

Nobody seems to know what the cause of her death was at present.

Anyone here got any ideas?

LillyBoPeep -> RE: Whitney Houston has died (2/11/2012 5:47:07 PM)

Sad sad. I grew up listening to her, a lot of my relatives were fans. When she was great, she was REALLY great.
Sad sad sad...

Another great voice leaving on a drug train. I'm truly saddened by her death.

The general educated guess is that death can be attributed in some way or another to drug abuse.

Personally, I believe there was plenty of that but, I think in this case, there may have been a cause.

I live not too far away from where she grew up and I know people that know her and the rumor mill has been saying for quite some time that she had a horrible deadly disease for which there was no cure. In effect: she "gave up" because she felt there was nothing to live for.

She was an incredible talent and a tortured soul and I hope that her spirit can now find some peace.

Yes, "peace" as in: "rest in"?

So sad..she had a great voice...she was too young to die.

slvemike4u -> RE: Whitney Houston has died (2/11/2012 6:30:50 PM)

What a shame, fairly predictable given her demons, but still a damm shame.
Just goes to drive home the point, there comes a time in every life when one must put away those trappings of our youth....or die.
You would have to go some to top my drug history, that's not bragging either,if it was out there during my youth and it wasn't smack,I did it,tried it,liked it(probably....lol,there weren't too many that got rejected)but you get older and your body lets you know...."this shit will kill you" ,so you either listen to that or you cancel your plans for that 50th birthday party.

Fame doesn't in and of itself, shorten your life...being an asshole shortens your life, being an asshole and famous shortens your life exponentially [8|]

Not a huge fan, she's not what I listened to but I know her voice, when she was at her peak, was lovely and she could hit high notes like none other at the time. RIP Whitney, you'll be missed. May your family and close friends find peace of mind and remember you as you were.

Poor lady.

TheHeretic -> RE: Whitney Houston has died (2/11/2012 6:54:20 PM)

She had a remarkable talent once. I'll like the music better for this celebrity wake than that crap when Winehouse joined the 27 club.

You know Bita ,I saw it as part of my parental duties to make sure my son had a proper musical education,by that I mean he was introduced early to the giants of Rock and Roll(is there any other type of music ?)eventually the deaths of Janis,Jimmy and Morrison came up.
While I allowed(to my son) their talent and their musical genius I made sure to point out to him that there is something to be said, genius aside, for having the talent to live to celebrate your 30th birthday.

I keep hearing the word "tragedy" tossed around,on the net,and on tv...I take some issue with that.
If we are to presume that her addictions played a part in this,a rather safe assumption I think, than I am not sure I agree with the characterization of this as a tragedy.
Allow me to explain,I had a younger brother,14 months younger,we were, what is known as Irish twins....lol,anyway he died at the age of 34 from leukemia. He fought with everything at his disposal for his life, every medical avenue that he could afford/had access to was tried...till the disease won out.Now take Whitney, even if we grant the addiction is also a disease...can we really make the case that she fought with every fiber of her being to live ?
I think not.
So we have my brothers death, private but certainly a tragedy to those of us who loved him,now contrast that with this event....and I come up with....waste.
Plain and simple waste, perhaps even tragic waste....but not a tragedy, this by everything we know shouldn't have happened, and yet it was allowed,by Whitney herself to happen.....That my friends is waste.

There were rumors about a brain tumor and emphysema.

Winterapple -> RE: Whitney Houston has died (2/12/2012 12:13:24 AM)

FR
My guess would be she ravaged her health with
drug abuse. Whatever the official cause it was
most likely drug related even if she was clean.
She was blessed in so many ways.
A beautiful woman, an amazing voice she could
have been a full blown movie star.
But who knows what demons people possess?
It was on the cover of a tabloid last week that
she had gone through her money.
Millions of dollars. And she damaged her voice
to. Very sad, especially for her daughter
and mother.
