what is wrong?  have you upgraded something recently?  cant play on line or what?
can you restore to a prior version?
It would help if we could get the chipset.

kalikshama -> RE: PC HELP!!! (2/22/2012 4:50:01 PM)

I'm sure that someone will be along to help, but if not, print that out and bring to Best Buy or where ever and ask them to help you find something compatible. I'm guessing all you need is to make sure it's Vista compatible. (I'm assuming you need a new card rather than to upgrade drivers.)

mnottertail -> RE: PC HELP!!! (2/22/2012 4:51:06 PM)

But its a laptop, and there arent any compats.

kalikshama -> RE: PC HELP!!! (2/22/2012 4:53:00 PM)

Oh, I missed that. I've changed graphic cards on desktops but never done anything to laptops.

tazzygirl -> RE: PC HELP!!! (2/22/2012 4:53:11 PM)

Its a desk top

mnottertail -> RE: PC HELP!!! (2/22/2012 5:00:12 PM)

arghhhh, i though it was a laptop.   shut it down, do you know how you take off the side?   take a screwdriver, unscrew the card at the clip, if it is a separate card .....waltz that card to the computer store.

if it is integrated on the motherboard,

look is it a ---------hol on.......

What model is it (speel it out for me)
GC30???
GC35????
gd33????

If this is what it is: Everex Impact GC3502 Budget Desktop PC  Review

Then I am afraid there is bad news if these people are correct in their review.

"Graphics are pretty much passable for Windows and that's about it.
The VIA Chrome9 HC integrated processor will eat up some of the
precious system memory and has very limited features for 3D.
Don't expect to replace this with a expansion card though as it isn't really possible."  (emphasis added)

integrated card, and either a pci or pci express slot, but with that processor, aint gonna happen.

I imagine you could add a meg of memory but........still........

tazzygirl -> RE: PC HELP!!! (2/22/2012 5:12:10 PM)

That be it.  No way to replace it?

mnottertail -> RE: PC HELP!!! (2/22/2012 5:15:34 PM)

what is it doing, or not doing?

tazzygirl -> RE: PC HELP!!! (2/22/2012 5:19:00 PM)

Just terrible when doing things like cam or playing games.  The rest is fine.  It doesnt even want to play spider solitaire.

Missokyst -> RE: PC HELP!!! (2/22/2012 5:24:57 PM)

PCI-express is the slot you have available.
Go on ebay and find one that is a g or better.
Consider yourself lucky if you can find one with ddr2.

Egad. Your processor is really slow. But did you know you could have up to 3 g of ram in that thing? I would consider adding it if you plan on keeping that computer.

  • mnottertail -> RE: PC HELP!!! (2/22/2012 5:28:28 PM)

Well, first Myst, she could add a gig of mem.  second Taz, how many icons you got down in your tray?  I think Myst, a good registry cleaner, go thru msconfig and dump all that bullshit and indexer autostart and shit...........

could clean up alot of sins......... or no?

Missokyst -> RE: PC HELP!!! (2/22/2012 5:31:39 PM)

I would wager there is a ton of things in her startup, it is vista. I don't care for registry cleaners but glary utilities is passable and won't mess you up if you don't know what you are doing.
Vista 32 bit can handle 3 g, but perhaps not with that processor. yucky

mnottertail -> RE: PC HELP!!! (2/22/2012 5:36:05 PM)

Yup, I am a glary man myself, wise pc engineer does a good job, but run glary after and it picks up stuff, yeah, the processor is a fuckin dog.  I wonder Taz, when it was new did those things work ok for you?

tazzygirl -> RE: PC HELP!!! (2/22/2012 5:37:45 PM)

    They seemed to then.

mnottertail -> RE: PC HELP!!! (2/22/2012 5:41:06 PM)

barnacles.  do you have cleanup! do you have comodo internet security with incoming ports shut down?  do you have glary and a good defrag?  count all the little icons in the lower right including hidden ones and tell me how many there are.

go start run and in the box type msconfig  then go to the startup tab, can you cut and paste that list here?

and you can close out for now
