Do you have a link for that thread?

SoftBonds -> RE: Feminazis and Godwin's Law (2/24/2012 6:07:37 PM)

I stand corrected. Sorry I was misinformed.

How do YOU define feminazi?

It's one of those fun little words, made up to describe asshole authoritarians who happen to be women, coming at it from a feminist launching pad.

Not to be confused with the psycho bitches who get their panties into a sand-filled twist, because they assume that everything they see or hear, and don't like, is a direct attack at them personally.

(and no, that last is not directed at anyone personally [;)])

What?? Aswad, but that's utterly wrong. I've just finished overseeing the examination of over five thousand students who have had to answer that question for their 18 year old exam - their A level. If they can't grasp that feminism is about equaility with men, and with liberation, then they simply fail. They don't get to go to university. That is nonsense. If it isn't about equality with men, and freedom, then it isn't feminism.

He means they don't merit the term "feminazi". You are up too late.

Kalik, the search engine here is full of fail, but the title of the thread really was "I am a feminist". Good hunting!

Thanks, Polite!! I am going to do myself the favour of NOT reading any of it, I remember my head utterly exploding. And I need all my head parts intact this time of year!

kalikshama -> RE: Feminazis and Godwin's Law (2/24/2012 6:53:34 PM)

LH, I like your definition:

quote:

What does it mean to be a feminist? It means that women are entitled to equal pay for equal work. It means that women should have the same educational opportunities as men. It means that a person's genitalia should not dictate her--or his--entire future. It means that women should not have to tolerate sexual harassment, and NOT because it might cause a lawsuit. It means that women are deserving of the same respect as men. It means that a woman should be able to choose her life path based on her personal goals---and that her choice is a valid one whether she chooses to work outside her house, *or* to stay home and raise her family.

Oh, I see

My apologies to Aswad. I keep trying to be more discerning and to grow a beard, but I can't seem to manage either.:-(

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Feminazis and Godwin's Law (2/24/2012 7:38:44 PM)

Just as well, I would be compelled to pluck it out hair by hair.

I am a dinosaur, Kalik! I recall being appalled at so many young women declaring that they were not feminists, and wondering what sea change had been wrought in the school system that they could be so...stupid. I am still appalled.

There's been a lot of Feminazi rhetoric recently, and so as not to derail other threads, notably this one: http://www.collarchat.com/m_4040596/tm.htm I've started this one.

I wanted to begin by defining "feminazi" but that is proving elusive, so I will start with the wiki entry:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feminazi

Feminazi is a term popularized by radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh.[1][2][3] Feminazi is a portmanteau of the nouns feminist and Nazi. The term is used pejoratively[4][5][6] by some U.S. conservatives to criticize feminists.[3]

...In the book, Limbaugh also stated that the word refers to unspecified women whose goal is to allow as many abortions as possible, saying at one point that there were fewer than 25 "true feminazis" in the U.S.

That wasn't my understanding of the term - feminists = feminzai doesn't make sense without a qualifier but "women whose goal is to allow as many abortions as possible" seems too specific.

So I turned to Urban Dictionary and found 54 definitions.

I'm going with #14:

A word used by ignorant idiots to describe any type of feminist or women's rights activist. Is extremely offensive to both the issue of women's rights and- here's a shocker- victims of one of the most brutal wars in human history.

Feminazi: because wanting to be treated like a human being is *exactly* like invading Poland.

How do YOU define feminazi?

#1) Rush Limbaugh is an old, STOOOOOPIT fucking MORON.

#2) Who the flying fuck gives a SHIT about Rush Limbaugh?

#3) See #1 and #2.

#4) Rush Limbaugh is at BEST......#2.

Again, I'm with Hibbie. What the fuck do they think, it's a guarantee now? Appalled and pissed off. Stupid doesn't even begin to cover it.

Women's suffrage hasn't been around for a century yet, has it? The culture of entitlement is based on ignorance.

tazzygirl -> RE: Feminazis and Godwin's Law (2/24/2012 7:54:42 PM)

What is nice is to not be silenced by those many people consider "women haters" by lifestyle.

What is sad is to have someone who isnt supposed to be a "woman hater" try to belittle and silence so many women when they do not agree with him.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Feminazis and Godwin's Law (2/24/2012 7:57:00 PM)

Agreeing with you, Tazzy.

I'm just curious, is that your viewpoint regarding all male/female domination (all the by-product symptomology you mention)? Cause dome of us prefer clothesline and a few romantic sentiments.
Or are you specifically referring to the low functioning types using the low fruit of that term.

The latter of your two options is far closer to my intended meaning.

I specifically chose the verb "to impose" in the hope that this term would automatically exclude consensual activities.

Indeedies! While I'm personally quite happy to take Lady H's word for it, part of me is quite sad at missing out on a good perve in the name of enlightenment. [:D]

Best we leave the matter as is lest Peon's ego goes through the roof! [:D][:D]

tazzygirl -> RE: Feminazis and Godwin's Law (2/24/2012 8:04:22 PM)

So, does this mean feminazi, the term, should come under the ruling by Mod 21?
